Thinking of all my texas friends - watching the today show - they've been down there today.

giddie up:) i watched too on the stairmaster

Also praying for your friend Lulu - does he have skype? That could be fun for him and his family for not visiting times

no skype - he is a VP of video conferencing company; so DH hooked us up to his room & our laptops. he's in a private rm, that DH and friends installed a flatscreen , slingbox - to keep him occupied. i had a cold last wk, so i've not been able to visit - but glouc i harrass him daily.

dragging his wife (again - those on FB , she shares my avi) out for mega wine tonight. boys can catch up.....since i'm not cleared for visitation yet.

i appreciate all warm regards !!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO i couldn't even keep up on the treadmill reading this and other threads before my BB battery died.

taps it's raining here today and i love it .... , i got 2 goats for your ark??

Damn...my friend got back from his doc appt, and he was in DH's office - working on a project and they came and got him.

Damn...now I'm crying...now it's real. Is it wrong to take his name plate from the mail center? Cuz, I did....

And, Princess came in at 10am...walked off, came back around 11ish, had lunch, came back around 12 ish and then left to drop off her phone. Left me with a stack of import letters to do.

WTH? why are people like that still here, and my friend, who does work really hard gone?

I WANT that exit interview now...I will not go quietly.

PJTP...Good news on the job front...

Followed up with the first job I applied for - the one I've had two interviews with...still no decision, but when I checked the job board today, it was no longer listed as 'Closed' so I sent off an inquiry via email asking about my status.

Heard from another department just now - they want to interview me...have an interview on Monday. Similar to the first place I worked at my employer, so my prior experience will come in handy. Might even have to interface with my first boss here - don't think SHE will like that much, since I was one of the people who corroborated another employee's complaint about her. Long story - but her treatment of the other employee bordered on harassment, including snide remarks about her age, ability to perform the job, etc. First Supervisor also made comments about another employee including a past problem with substance abuse, which also got her into trouble. Both of the affected employees are now in different departments and good for them!

I'm hopeful about Monday...it would put me back on the side of campus where I was happier, and close to friendly former co-workers. Start the prayers, good thoughts, good vibes and nekkid fire dancing!

Oh Glouc, I'm so sorry for your friend...and I think I would have taken his nameplate too...that just sucks...

I so totally agree...in my former office, there was an employee who was OBVIOUSLY the boss' favorite. Had flexible hours (come in when you want) took extra-long lunches, socialized with the boss outside of work and then when they both had too much 'party time', both called in sick the next day. Came and went as she pleased (including 2 hours in the middle of the day to visit a friend in the hospital) and nothing was ever said. It just stinks...

I WANT that exit interview now...I will not go quietly.

I wish I could be a fly on the wall for that one...be careful, though, Glouc - you don't want them to give YOU a bad reference in return for your candor, should you end up leaving. Make sure they can't retaliate against you, and phrase your thoughts in impartial, business terms so they can't say it's about your personal relationship (or lack thereof) with the Princess.

But then, you're a smart woman - you know how to do that without burning your bridges...I know I would have a tough time of it...when I left my first position, I did NOT tell them a lot of what was on my mind and why I left because it was SO personal - I couldn't figure out a way to say it without it sounding like whining or a personal attack on my former manager.

Besides - I suspect they always knew about her challenges, they just chose to do nothing about it...

Thanks Ebony...the worst part is I'm torn because I do have a friendship w/Princess. She's a friend on FB, and we chat at work. We've done over time together on some projects and she's awesome and fun...she just doesn't work.

I'm impartial enough to see the good part of her and the bad. I just wish her "leash" were a little tighter, or that she had more respect for the folks here getting fired.

Arghghghghh!!!! Sorry....'nuff about layoffs. I know it sucks for everyone everywhere.

How 'bout them <insert team name here>?

I just read a post from someone who claims that she has personally been attacked on this forum and likens it to a schoolyard bully situation. I can find nothing in her status that has any sort of nastiness, I found no personal attacks, and basically nothing negative.

For many people, disagreeing with them is considered by them to be a form of personal attack. Shrug.

Almost every single woman I saw on that show looked substantially heavier. I deal with people's height / weight almost nightly and I'm pretty good (pats myself on the back) at estimation, often times coming within 5 - 10 lbs. Having said that, I'm aware some people say TV adds some lbs. What do the rest of you think? Did they fudge the stats, or is it a trick of the TV? Also, most of those chicks had BOOBS! Wowza!

The camera does distort. It doesn't necessarily "add 10 lb." (or 20 or whatever) But you are converting a 3D object into 2D and there are going to be distortions. Some people actually look THINNER in pix and video but most people look heavier and this seems to be even more exaggerated the heavier you are.

So, haven't seen the show, I think the jury is out...

She told me, "You'll see one day". I say, "No...I'm ready for DD to hit the road NOW."

I get so irritated when people assume their experience is universal. She is a basket case so, of course, every one was or will be too.

Well, my son is about to turn 18 and I want him out of the house NOW!

What is it with users and the word "pink" in their name? Could she be the other pink from a year ago that kept popping up?

She's not.

Problem is, I would think (like in many places I've been) the hostilities that are fed and flamed in a place like that would spill over into the tamer boards.

I've seen that happen but it's pretty rare and usually involved a particularly controversial person who delighted in upsetting people.

But I do think boards have personalities and the OH board is very lightly moderated and a lot of stuff is allowed that wouldn't be allowed here. That includes all over the board, not just Rants & Raves.

So their "rest of the board" isn't as bad as their R&R section, but it's much rougher than any other board I'm on.

Ebony, CONGRATS AGAIN!! I hope SOMEthing comes through for you.

The "prior boss" you referred to whom you would be bumping into if you got this job, is this the boss you have now?

I called the agency... again... only to be told they still don't know anything. I asked if there was a way to find out if I was even in the running. The girl said she has had a call and an e-mail in to them and no reply. I told her this was getting aggravating, that in the very near future I would simply be yanking my name from the pool if I don't hear anything since I have signed on for a full load of classes. She said she understood.

Anyway, went and saw The Ugly Truth. It was... okay. However, it was like listening to two hours' worth of PknPottymouth. A bit risque and vulgar, even for me who is in no way a prude. I think I chuckled once. I'd say a C- to D+. Good thing I had a free ticket to see it cuz I'd be one ticked off somethin' if I had to pay full price.

 Well, I grew up a 'skins fan, so....can't root for the 'boys. LOL

I did make DH's dad a 'boys blanket one year for Christmas (they live in Copperas Cove, near Ft. Hood) and he LOVED it. They teased me endlessly about how hard that must have been!

But, since being here, I enjoy college more than pro. But, we are a football house.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
