SCALE VICTORY! Small but significant

Recommended Posts

In my past weight loss journeys I had places on the scale that always seemed to plateau. 208, 200, 188. When I would get to these places it took significant effort to get past them and sometimes the delay was enough to throw me completely off track and derail my diet. Only to come back weeks or months later with even more weight added. It was vicous.

This past week I breezed right past 208 and even though I am just beginning this journey I am so pleased. Yes, I am eating the right foods and yes, I am exercising. But, this tool has significantly helped me and I just cant wait for the next few months as I breakthrough the plateaus of the past.

Thanks for listening - Anyone have the same thing?

I completely re-thought my attitude about dieting when I got the band. Rather than looking up the mountain to the peak of where I needed to get (goal), I made MANY mini-goals that were reachable in a short time. That made all the difference in the world and gave me the incentive and success to continue my journey. I even try to make my plateaus mini-goals....like okay let's try and make THIS plateau last only two weeks instead of the normal three.....Every time you turn around you have a little victory of some kind so you don't feel overwhelmed.

For over 5 years, I could not get below the 190's. And like you I would be discouraged and usually gained the weight back - plus some, only to start the cycle again.

I am now for the first time in 16 years down to the 170's and almost into the 160's (1 pound to go!). So, I have to give credit to the band!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
