When Did YOUR Energy Come Back?

Recommended Posts

When did you start feeling more energy after the sleeve? I'm looking forward to the new energy level everyone enjoys after WLS. I'm 3 weeks post op, so still recovering, but I can't wait to run. Will I have the energy for this in 6 weeks? I'm still tired during the day and of course after work.

After about 48 hours my energy was pretty much back to normal. Went back to the gym to do cardio today (2 weeks out) and was able to push just about as hard as I did the day before surgery. That said everyone is different and if you've had pain that's one he'll of an energy killer.

I am three weeks out today and I too am feeling low energy. I am fairly sure it is the ultra low calorie diet, so I guess it wont get much better until I move on to puree in about 9 days, then softs sometime after that. Under 500 cal per day is not a lot of gas in the tank.

My energy came back fully at about 4-5 weeks. I just had my 6 week check up and given permission for light core work and light running. He said to slow down if I am sore.

I’ve had RNY and I’m about 3 days shy of 3 weeks out. I am starting to worry because I currently still get very tired just doing simple things like walking and when I stand up, I get a little dizzy, my heart rate also goes a little high when I do anything even remotely strenuous. I am eating about 600 calories a day, getting in 48-64 ounces of Fluid and around 60 grams of Protein. I feel like I shouldn’t be feeling this crappy still. On my 3rd post op day I was readmitted to the hospital for 4 nights because my body went into diabetic ketoacidosis (I’ve had type one diabetes for the majority of my life), so I’m beginning to worry it’s happening again. Does anyone else feel this way, or felt this way around the same time as me? Thanks in advance.

Add me to the 4-5 weeks category. And I didn’t increase my calories either, it was just the stage of recovery.

This is so great to hear. Thank you everybody for posting. I'll be 4 weeks post on Wednesday. Despite not feeling energetic, I have this desire to work out. I walked my dogs longer tonight. I feels so good. I think my 25 lb weight loss is actually making it easier for me to move. This is truly incredible. I hope this lasts and is not just some weird spot I'm in. LOL

@Fantasstik, how are you feeling today? Did things get any better? Are you eating puree yet?

Nikki, I just started feeling more like myself this week ...which is week 4 for me. I know that seems a long way off right now, but don't worry, it's coming and you will be feelin' better.

Mine was back to 100% at six weeks I'd say. I started exercising at 5 weeks though. I also increased my calories from 300-400 a day to 500-600, which I think helped. I didn't do this intentionally but actual food has more calories than liquids. I was consuming more by this stage in the food progression.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
