I love being able to cross my legs, shop in any store and find clothing in my size that really speaks to me instead of having to wear what fits, not having to pay an upcharge on clothing for being plus sized, weighing less than my hubby for the first time in our relationship (16 years), fitting comfortably in seats at public functions, calf boots (I bought a pair last September and they are to big in the calf), being able to wear my Grandmothers wedding set again that I inherited (my fingers have gone from a size 8.5 to a 5.25) and finally feeling comfortable in my own skin especially around my thin girlfriends. I'm still bigger than most tof them but not by much.

I have never weighed less than my 6'1" husband. At our wedding, I was around my lowest weight, 150, but he was 135! (He had been 145, but got so stressed out about his divorced parents being in the same building that he lost 10# before the wedding). My 3 sons are 6'1" (about 165#) and twins 6'3" (about 230). I WANNA BE THE LIGHTEST PERSON IN MY HOUSE, DARN IT! My hubby is at about 175 now and if he loses weight when I get close, I may have to kill him!

I’ve always outweighed my husband, not by much but just enough. I would love for my husband to be able to carry me over the threshold someday. Romantic or corny??

I haven’t made a list of these things yet! Here it goes:

- Playing in bounce houses with my son
- My wedding ring fitting again
- Smaller breasts, finding bras that fit
- Fitting in normal movie theater seats and not accidentally pushing the buttons on luxury seats
- Not being afraid that I’m too big for amusement park rides
- Being able to wear pants that aren’t stretchy
- Hiking and camping, being able to keep up

That’s all I can think of for now!

A little crazy but a lot romantic.Remember I'm as old as dirt -so I'm full of useless information. Well General consensus is-- I'm full of something else, but a healthy dose of Miralax will cure that. Now back to the subject at hand, back,in the 30s or maybe 40s there was a song-Irving Berlin, maybe Rodgers and Hart?
One of the lyrics went " a girl I can carry, the girl that I marry must be" Way back,in the mid 60s, was dating this guy, joking and playing around, he picked me up (at this point I was 180-190, LONG time and many pounds ago) he carried me through the front gate of his parents house, sat me down on the front sidewalk, I then picked him up carried him the rest of the way to the front door and sat him down on the front porch. Must have bruised his fragile little ego because we broke up shortly after that![emoji13] Poor Little Darling, bless his [emoji173]. He's probably bald, toothless and as heavy as me if he's still alive. My mother liked him, maybe more than I did, corresponded with him even after I married, I chose my husband not her and she was p****d at me, never forgave me, always wanted to fight hubby for my love. Still frustrated until she died in 2003, at that time I had been married for 35 years, but she never gave up. Maybe that's where my stubbornness comes from, in my case I use it to stay on track until my surgery day. Better than sitting on a limb of the Peeve Tree, I think[emoji14]

Here's my list:

- Being able to take care of my own toenails! Paint, clip, file ect.
- Shopping at any store.
- Having a baby! I have to wait until 12 months post op, per insurance requirements. I've got roughly 9 months to wait before we start trying.
- Easier time doing anything that requires bending over- shaving, cleaning, yard work, ect.
- Being able to wear my wedding rings again (I have succeeded in this already)
- Getting off most of my medications! (Success! I am not on one that I take regularly, just as needed!)
- Feeling confident to take a picture on the fly!
- Not worrying whether or not I'll fit in a restaurant booth.
- Traveling and going on adventures with my husband.
-Not getting the dreaded "I'm really worried about you" talk from family or friends.

I'm scheduled to have mine on April 20, 2018. There are SO many things that I am looking forward to doing. Things such as:

  • Giving myself a decent pedicure
  • Crossing my legs
  • Washing my back by myself (keeping it real)
  • Sitting in chairs with arms comfortably (chairs like the ones in Dr's offices and other places)
  • Flying without a seatbelt extender
  • Being able to ride Public Transportation without people getting up and moving because of my weight
  • Running for a bus or train without being winded
  • Taking my house steps one after the other

There are so many more, but these are the ones that are very high on my list!

Walk into J. Crew, banana, Ann Taylor and wear something linen or non-stretchy off the rack.

Never go to the special section of department stores (always next to Maternity).

Being willing to be in photographs again (and taking a selfie of something other than my feet).

Wear the women’s version of fan/political t-shirts rather than the man’s (someone else put this earlier and I was like “Yes!”)

Never worry that I will have to ask for a seatbelt extender (I’m right on the edge) or that when I walk down the aisle don’t think the other passengers are hoping I’m not their seat mate.

Going into a store (other than Lane Bryant) and buying a bra.

Crossing my legs.

I'd love to hear the things that you're excited to do, or for those of you who are already sleeved, that you can do now!

I can fit my booty into a genuine pair of "boyfriend jeans" courtesy of my boyfriend. :) I can tell him that I now weigh 26lbs less than him. In fact, I've now appropriated a pair of his jeans! Yippee! The crahps ah sayuved!!!

Ditto on all of these things! Another one is not worrying when I sit in a chair if I will break it.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
