Another newbie from GA

Hey everyone! I've been lurking for a few months and finally joined tonight. I have not been banded yet. My GP has sent me to Dr. Finley...St. Joseph's I think...to get this started. My first appointment with him is Nov 20. I am so excited and scared! The main issue I'm worried about now is getting BCBS to approve it. I just wanted to thank y'all for all the information on here!

I am in Georgia as well. Over the weekend I searched the internet and came across lap-band. This is great!! I have been overweight all my life. I have been on a diet all my life!!! When I talk to my mother on the phone who is hundreds of miles away....after asking if everything is fine-she asks how is your weight---are you loosing any?...

Yes i'm tired of it. My BMI is 41 it seems it is on the edge of extreme not extreme. I don't have any other medical conditions that I am aware of besides seldomingly I know my blood pressure is high. I have AETNA HMO. Does anyone know if i have a good chance of getting approved? I will be attending an informational seminar at Emory on 10/30.

I am desperate to know if my insurance will approve.

:help:

I live in a small town in central GA...Eatonton...blink and you miss it lol! I have also been overweight all my life and can't go on like this. My g.p. thinks that I shouldn't have a problem getting my insurance to approve it, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed!

Hi GaPeach. I live in Atlanta in the Buckhead area. This a wonderful website and very informative. I will be banded by Dr. Edward Lin at Emory. I have my preop appointments next week and then i will get my date. I have BCBS also and i had no problem gettting approved. Good luck with everything.

Yes, mine is PPO. I went on a cruise right after it was submitted so atleast my mine was elsewhere LOL!!! I was actually approved in a week but didn't get the new until that date. I agree the waiting is the worst part.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
