Hello what should I bring w/ me to hospital? Will b staying overnight. What was helpful to you on your stay?

I'm thinking of getting a binder, sounds right up my alley, I guess I'll ask hospital if they give one if not I'll invest in one.

Protein, which best to get, I think I'll get an unflavored so I can add to stuff. I've heard of GENEPRO & un-something?

Sorry I'm all over the place here! I hope I'm posting this correctly 🤷‍♀️Surgery day 4/12/18 I'm 241lbs

Unjury, I'm still pre surg, a lot of people have found Biotene (a mouth moisturizer) GasX strips (helps you get rid of that pesky gas) chapstick, soft sleep pants or jammie bottoms. You probably will be wearing their gowns because of wires and IVs but it is nice to have your tushie.

covered when you're up walking. One poster bought a pair of cheap slippers, then threw them away when she was released. Your phone with a charger or a tablet, you might feel good enough to get bored. Chapstick, your lips will get so dry, without it they might crack. I might take some paperbacks, but then I am a reader. These are what I'm planning to pack. Welcome and congratulations on a firm surgery date, I don't have one yet but that's a long strange story. If you have any other questions I or someone else can answer, just ask. I can't give you a Protein recommendation but I'm sure there will be somebody else who can.

Don't forget the toothpaste! Your mouth will get all dry and nasty, and even though you can't drink, you can brush your teeth. I must have brushed mine 10 times in the first 24 hours! Flavored dental floss is great, too!

I went in for surgery at 9am and I was released the next morning at 5am. I wore the same sweats and shirt out as I did in because it was such a short stay. I brought a book to read but I honestly slept the whole dang time. I didn't need anything I brought except the clothes to wear out :P

I only needed phone, charger and slipper-shoes. You will be tired, I was. You are supposed to be woken up every 4 hours after surgery to walk around the hospital until discharge. That is not simple. IV and pain killer drip has to be made ready, heart/oxy monitor unhooked, ankle circulation cuffs removed, then give yourself a little time to get out, it will hurt, then walking, then getting strapped back in bed. I think the whole walking process took up 45-60 minutes every 4 hours, so it breaks your sleep up, a lot (I also walked alot).

Damnit. In this app, all post go across timeline/trending, and when reading, the thread area dies not show up in the breadcrumb menu, and I didn't see it was the ladies room, until after posting, and the app asked me to subscribe to the end.

I know everyone advises you not to overpack, but stuff happens, don't you know. I've met a couple of people (hopefully not you, but you can't tell ahead of time) that were in the hospital 4-5 days. One started running a fever and another swelled badly and couldn't get the Water down. I'd rather be prepared for the worst and Celebrate the best. It's not that big a deal to take the extra stuff home. I do second the suggestion of your own pillow! Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
