Does your stomach feel normal?

Recommended Posts

To be honest i didn’t feel anything I actually questioned if they even did something to me cause I felt and feel normal inside I’m barely starting my 6th week post op.

LOL... I hope I question whether they did anything too! Boy, you seem so lucky. Hope you are seeing some good results too. [emoji122][emoji3]

I am 5 months out. Your dr or NUT should give you guidelines in how much to eat per meal. I know for me, it was a 1/2 and have now graduated to 1 cup. Sometimes I dont even eat that much. Be careful because things do swell in your itty bitty belly! Do when I do eat not so good carbs. I take a half forkful or 2 and wait 5/10 min. If i dont feel full I repeat. Only 3 though. After the 3rd that my cut off. And please remember not drinking when you eat. It will cause it swell more and if you over eat to me it feels like the food is at the bottom of my esophagus. I dont get pain unless i drink to fast. Just get discomfort when I overdo it with foods

I had my surgery on a Monday and I was mowing my lawn by Saturday that same week, everyone recovers differently. Most importantly continue to communicate with your physician's office with any concerns you may have.

I had mild pain after surgery. It was kind of a "pulled muscle" feeling for about a week. After that, I was fine! I'm 5 months out now, and I feel pretty normal. Sometimes eating isn't much fun because I get uncomfortably full after a few bites, but that's the purpose of surgery! It hasn't been bad at all!

Mine feels like there's gremlin in there, making the choice of whether or not I'm full.

I’m 6 days out and the first few days i could feel every sip going down and had slight pain (really more pressure) and then about 4 days out it just stopped. I was at work on Monday and I’m just doing everything I usually do routine wise like nothing ever happened haha. It’s hard to believe I had a major surgery last week. And in the last 24-36 hours I am instantly able to drink fluids very easily. I worked from home today and spaced my Snacks out well and had time to knock out all of my fluids before 4pm. I had 2 24oz cups of crystal light (one morning, one afternoon) and I had to catch myself drinking too fast bc I totally forgot I had even had the surgery. Haha. Hope that makes you feel better! you will love your new stomach and the new you!

No feeling in my actual stomach other than my volume is way down. First couple days after getting out of hospital it gurgled but that has stopped. My program recommends 1/4 cup servings to start. Still on that except for yogurt, where I can eat more. My incisions, at 4 weeks out, are itching like crazy. yesterday no. Today OMG. I found a dose of children's benadryl helps me to sleep without waking up itching.

Ohhh I've heard about the itching. And I also have stressed induced eczema. So I probably need to buy enough Benadryl like I had five kids. LOL (j/k...I think.) This is such a great tip!

I know after surgery you can be in pain...some more than others. Do you actually feel like your stomach has been cut? If so, when does that feeling (pain) go away? After 6 or so months when your stomach is supposed to have healed fully, do you still feel your stomach or do you forget anything ever happened?

Not one bit. I felt like I did a ton of crunches. I had one moment of nausea and pain when I first woke from anesthesia. Then nothing but muscle soreness . It’s crazy you can’t feel they cut anything !

I had no surgical pain at all, but I did feel like I'd done 2,000 sit-ups,

What you WILL feel that's different, when you start eating more than liquids, is where you feel full... pre-op, you know that nice satisfying (and sometimes nauseating) feeling when you're really good and full, and you feel it in your belly? Well....now with your stomach basically gone, your full feeling is going to be waaaayyyy up high between the boobs, like it's right at the bottom of your throat, because it almost is. That'll take some getting used to, don't be surprised by it! :D

I never felt anything other than incision pain on occasion. Not very often though. My tums feels totes norm. :D I didn't even experience the 10000 crunches syndrome. I maxed out on pain meds on Day1 so very little pain and limited nausea--had a scopolamine patch thanks to @orionburn and @Seahawks Fan's advice!

I think I hear it working more which is really interesting I think since it has shrunk. I kinda like that though, makes me feel more in touch with my body.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
