Any March 2018 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Well, tomorrow is my big day. I was very anxious up until today. My anxiety was so bad, that I tried to sabotage tomorrow. I am drinking my clear Protein and it tastes good. This all feels right. I am no longer scared. Thank you all for your posts. I will come back and discuss my surgery day at another time. God bless you all and keep being LOSERS!

Because you knew it was the right decision for you. For me, my weight is backing me into a corner, I know without surgery I'll get sicker until I die. Obesity has ruined my quality of life, I don't want to be like this anymore. I suspect, you felt many,of the same things. Sure you feel a little rotten, gain seldom comes without pain. But every day you are going to be a little stronger, a little healthier, the tenderness and pain will subside. Even if you don't dance in the sunlight you'll,move smoother and easier. And those are basic reasons for it all. Get your fluids, eat your Proteins and veggies when your diet advances, you are gonna be fine and dandy soon. You'll be telling all the new people on here, I did it and you can too. Buck up its got to get better.

Amen! Thanks for the encouragement. No weight loss yet.

Hey everyone! I’m new to the forum and wanted to get to know y’all. My surgery is next Wednesday, March 14th. A little nervous but feeling positive about it.

I’m so proud of the members I’ve seen here that lost weight prior to surgery. That is quite an accomplishment! I’m not sure I would have the patience to do that.

I chose to be a cash pay patient without using insurance. I had my consultation this week and my surgery is 8 days later! I know I’m moving extremely fast, but I’m on unemployment now and it’s the perfect time to do this so that I don’t have to take off time from a new job to recuperate.

I started my pre-op liquid diet this morning and so far, so good. Protein Shake was fine and now I’m sipping my Water. I’m so ready for this! I’ve been waiting years to have the money saved up. All of my insurance plans over the years did not cover bariatric surgery.

I’m so excited and can’t wait to get to know y’all! Good luck to us all.

Just got home yesterday from the hospital. Big ups and downs but I am so happy that it is done. I have to force myself to keep up with the new diet. I have zero hunger. The only pain that I have are from the wounds from surgery. I wish you all the best this month, but it is soooo much better. The weight is already melting off.

Same as@bradleyY, I just got home today from the hospital. I have five incision sites that seem to be healing nicely and I've almost no pain from these. The gas pain is a different matter altogether and it seems to be taking some time for it to sort itself out.

My diet today in the hospital started with a natural yoghurt and half a banana smoothie with a teaspoon of honey. I could only manage about 100mls before I was full. It had the effect though of getting my bowels going and boy did they go! (Sorry TMI I know).

My energy levels are fairly low at the moment and a 30 min nap in the recliner tuned into three hours. Hopefully that won't stop me from sleeping later, but given I felt like I was conducting a snoring orchestra in the 4 bed ward I was in last night, I'm not surprised that I slept today.

Overall, I feel really happy about my decision to have the sleeve so far and I've had great support from my wife and kids. I haven't told my wider family group yet about the specific surgery that I had, but that's a discussion for a different day.

Someone recommended the gas x strips that melt in your mouth and I have been using those. I don’t have any gas pain, and I think that is why. You should check them out.

I am just home today from surgery on the 6th. I have 4 incision sites, one which is very painful- where they removed my stomach. I've not tried gas x but I commented on it in hospital, curious as to why they don't give you any. I'm still on Clear Liquids only.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
