The first poo

  • Popular Post

I don’t mean to post tmi but sweet baby Jesus The first poo was my absolute flipping nightmare. Like... why didn’t anyone warn me [emoji30][emoji30]40 minutes crying on the toilet and now my entire body hurts. I would rather endure an extra two week of clear liquids than experience that again. Holy.... I’m actually mad the hospital didn’t give me stool softeners or something. Jerks... lol

  • I agree! The first one was horrible. Sat there for 30 mins, crying and sweating! It was a total cardio workout! It does get better, I'm 2 months out and still use a softener daily. Good thing is

  • I kind of figured I was the only one who runs to the scale after a big poo to see how much I've lost....

My surgery is tomorrow morning. Im on clear liquids today. Would adding some miralax to my water today be a good idea or am I asking for trouble. I already have hemmorhoids so Im really scared of this first poop after surgery lol Then again I dont want to get the runs tomorrow either [emoji37]

Congrats girl! Don't add it. If you're doing a bowel cleanse, do it and do it hard and get it done. You don't want to have an accident on the table. They won't appreciate it. LOL.

Ok, everyone whose first poos were a nightmare, please tell me. Did you do 2 weeks non-cheating pre-op liquid diet? Did you do a pre-surgery bowel prep? Did you have RNY or VSG?

TY! I'm trying to decide if I disobey my doc and do a bowel prep today and Clear Liquids tomorrow! LOL. My RD claims (but she's not had surgery), that with the RNY the first stool after liquids and surgery is usually runny. But you know, I'm a doubting Thomas! I have experience that says surgery + Fentanyl + Anesthesia = 1st poo of the devil himself!

kthnxbye...

One week post op, first bm today and it was traumatic!

Did you do 2 weeks non-cheating pre-op liquid diet? No, not required by my surgeon

Did you do a pre-surgery bowel prep? Yes

Did you have RNY or VSG? VSG

You made me laugh so hard. Thanks for sharing. But from what I read it should be a bit loose. Good luck you are doing great

I'm at another stage ?poo-wise. I know this was a post-surgery forum nut I have a pre-surgery variant. This was my 3 day in Dietary Purgatory aka liver-cleaning, liver-shrinking diet. I have read a poster who said she had nasty green stool from liquids and green veggies, another said just liquid and like colitis, my is a third variation. Stool is yelowish , softly formed, that's fine, but it burns like I have been eating pablono peppers. Has anyone else noticed this before????
Haha I needed this post today! I was backed up at the end of my pre-op diet and then add surgery day plus four post-op days and it was both terrible and amazing. And one of those things where even though painful once floodgates has opened I was not getting off that toilet until my bowels decided it was time. Glad to know it’s a memorable experience of mixed emotions for others as well!!
Also I was taking the softeners twice a day (docusate) and took two doses of milk of magnesia on post-op day 3. DEFINITELY wish I’d done a colon cleanse at the end of my two week pre-op diet...
I’m so glad I’m reading this now! Surgery is on September 4 and I don’t want to be unprepared. If I hadn’t hopped on here I’d probably be crying on the toilet too ?
Prunes work for regularity.

I had a bypass on Wednesday and had my first "poo" on Saturday. I don't know if it really qualifies. It was a lot of gas but then some liquid came out, a very small chunk of solid. It felt more like something that remained from my bowel prep than something my new body created, but it wasn't painful.

Keeping my fingers cross my #2 #2 is as easy.
