Do you feel you did the right thing

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if everybody was OK after they had the procedure done I had mine done on January 15 and I’m just feeling really emotional right now wondering if I did the right thing if I’m ever going to feel normal again because right now I don’t

You'll never feel the way you use to... And it's kinda the point .

You'll have to exercise longer to feel winded

You'll forget why you used to over eat

You'll finally start peeking on the juniors size side of the store (oops that's me)

You'll start arguing with food labels questioning why so much sugar (seriously why? It's just yogurt)

You'll take way too many selfies from all your new found good angles

You'll forget what being heavy feels like

You may even forget you ever felt any regrets...

what you are going through is normal for many in the early post op period. it is the hormone dump from rapid fat loss and the adjustment to the healing (I remember thinking "OMG am i going to be burping my way through every meal forever?" Now I read posts like yours and go "oh yeah, i forgot about that part". you will feel totally normal in 3-6 months (for me it was 2 months, but i'm a quick healer)...I'm 15 months now, in and if it weren't for:

  • being amazed every time i look at a picture of myself
  • wondering why i don't get winded anymore, ever
  • wondering how far i need to push myself on the treadmill to get my heart rate into the cardio zone
  • wondering how the hell these size 2 pants fit me, because that makes no sense at all

...i would not remember I had surgery.

No regrets, and I agree with what everyone above said. I'm almost 8 months out now, and what you're feeling now will change for the better. Our bodies go through so many changes immediately post op it can really throw things off, but it adjusts, and you get used to the new normal.

I am feeling the same way. I didn't realize just how bad my addiction to food was. I am struggling to get in my Protein and Water. I dont feel hungry at all but I miss regular food. Im on week 2 full liquids. These liquid are starting fo repulse me. I know I will have to change my relationship with food but I miss eating. [emoji17]

I asked myself that same question today. My surgery was on the 15th too. It hurts when anything passes thru and I'm ready for it to stop. I think once all the pain ends I will be happy I did it.. but for now. I'm not sure either

It's too early for me to answer, but with my RNY procedure only days away I've come to the point where I need to just look ahead. Yeah, granted, I did have my doubts, but I worked through that over the past 11 months. Thanks to the many postings by people here, I'm more encouraged that I'm making the right decision. I just need to look beyond the pain and adjustment period that'll follow for weeks post-surgery.

My surgery was on the 16th. And yes I think it’s normal to question. I had a really lousy morning... woke up in a lot of pain today and didn’t feel well... prob
Since i struggled since the day of surgery to get my liquids and Protein in. Today ... I set a schedule and mostly stayed on track. I got in 42 g of protein ( a record for me) and feel so much better than I did this morning! Each day I notice I can get in more liquid and protein. While the guidelines are very important, I feel like my body is healing I have to listen to it. Hang in there and do a little more each day!

I definitely understand you. I had my sleeve done on 12/12 & I am still emotional and do not feel like myself. I still have major regrets. This is so hard for me.

I had my surgery and was fine from then onward. I was just hormonal. I never left regretting any of it but the good news is that you will feel normal one of these days, I just can't tell you when.

When varies for each person who has had the surgery. I felt like myself, I just didn't feel like the "me" that could eat as much as I wanted, when I wanted and I embraced that. At first I missed it a lot but the whole point of the surgery for me was controlling that, amongst other things. 🙂

It has hit me today, as I sit in my chair at work that I don't have my belly sticking out to where it would hit the desk. Oh and I can cross my legs more comfortably. It amazes me just how much I have loss in inches vs actual pounds, I have lost 24 lbs all together. But I believe in inches all over about 3 inches. I am noticing more energy and have pep to my step. My skin is a lot clearer. My watch band is shorter by 3 notches. the little things are what I am noticing. When I bend over I don't feel out of breath or I am going to fall over ( weeble wobble).
I am having a hard time with my sweet tooth, it is very hard to not want to get some ice cream or chocolate. Candy I can do without. I have no craving really for that, just chocolate and ice cream. I have gone as far as taking Popsicle and putting them in my mixer with almond milk and making like ice cream with that/ sometimes I have added un-flavored protein powder.
I feel better everyday. The energy is great to have with having younger kids and being able to have the energy to keep up. 😃

If anyone has any advice on how to make your stomach feel better after you eat something you shouldn't have or at too fast, I would GREATLY appreciate it!! It's painful on both sides of my abdomen (like to the point I'm doubled over and using a hot water bottle in addition to medicine) and I'm really nauseous (the thought or smell of food is 🤢).
