I can’t find a reason why you shouldn’t want surgery... To find enough reasons and inspiration, take a look ar before/after pictures, all benefits are the same, healthier, energetic, confidence, etc etc...

this surgery will help you controlling your food intake and food addiction, although I strongly recommend to include excersices or home workouts..you want to keep your muscles tight...

good luck!

Sleeve Gastrectomy is an awesome “tool” that has helped me lose weight and not starve!!! I’m an overwater as well but having the Sleeve prevents me from doing that because 1. The hormone Ghrelin that makes you hungry doesn’t exist or is greatly subdued due to a smaller stomach pouch. 2. If you try to eat more than 2-3 ounces of food at a meal you will be extremely uncomfortable! Like pain! 3. You can only hold small meals but you eat 3-4 so you graze and don’t get hungry at all.

Remember though, this is a life style change! If you don’t have the desire to make changes necessary to be healthy and at a healthy weight, you won’t be successful and can get heavy again.

Sad to be the wet blanket....but your weight might disqualify you. At 5'6" and 210...your BMI is 33.9. Most surgeons will only do the surgery, and most insurances will only cover it when you have a BMI of 40+ or a BMI of 35 with comorbidities like diabetes or hypertension.

I haven't had the surgery yet (this Thursday for me) but can tell you why I would encourage someone struggling with weight loss to consider VSG. In my case, I have been overweight for about 15 years and had developed associated typical health problems like high cholesterol and sleep apnea. I considered but didn't really pursue surgery a couple of years ago. Then, last year, I had a heart attack. That was a real eye opener but even with that new incentive, I have really struggled to maintain any significant weight loss. I am not going to wait around for another heart attack or the onset of diabetes before I take meaningful action this time.

As far as the low BMI, there are financing options for self-pay and your insurance may cover a portion of the surgery if you have a hiatal hernia; which is very common in obese people. I have one and it will be repaired during my surgery.

Best of luck in whatever you decide!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
