Anthem BCBS 6 Months Pre-Op Diet

Recommended Posts

So where exactly is your surgeon? How much longer do you have until surgery day? Looks like mine will be within 6 weeks although I don't have a firm date yet. It has been a journey and it still continues.

I'm having surgery at Silver Cross in New Lenox. My surgeon is Dr. BRIAN Lahmann. I'm waiting on the pulmonologist to give his clearance and he's being a ****** about the Cpap compliance. So I'm hoping about 6 weeks or less, we may end up surgery buddies!

Does anyone here have BCBS Illinois? I got approved by the doctor in like a week. I have my consultation on the 31st and she's telling me all my insurance requires is a nutrition class and phys evaluation. Each one seems so different. I live in Georgia.

They do vary by state, but also it is up to the surgeon what they require. Lucky you!

From my first day, I decided to apply myself during that six months. (I have BCBS Anthem, too.) I lost 99 pounds from the start of my journey to surgery day. It was the very best thing that I could have done for myself.

Make the most of that time. You have to go through it anyway!

Good luck!

Wow. That's awesome. I was still in chemo for a few months so in my pre surg diet I only lost 17 pounds but I still have about six weeks to go, so who knows.

I too have short red hair, although it's somewhere between strawberry blonde and ginger, and its mostly natural, no dark roots. Have you heard the one about red-haired drivers? We are similar to blondes except we convince you it's Your fault the day-um accident happened. We are supposed to be becoming extinct, our ancestors came from the Neander Forest of Germany (or so they say). Well theres a whole bunch of us here in Ohio,, maybe not as much as Minnesota where they are Scandinavian but a lot of English, Scotch Irish and my area of Ohio- Dutch and German. Whole family on Mamma's side Blonde, Red with green or brown eyes, although I'm hazel green. Daddy's side Lancastershire in England although there's some Native American nobody wants to admit, high cheekbones and tan out super easy in the summer. Most of us Americans are " mutts" if you get down to it, but I prefer to call it hybrid strength.Glad you made it to the other side of chemo otherwise I'd never met you. Take it easy and gave a good day.

Hey everyone,
I'm just a little worried about the 6 months of pre-op dieting. According to my hospital's insurance specialist, some insurance providers are now denying people if they don't lose a pound per month or even gain weight during their 6 months of pre-op dieting. I've completed 6 months of dieting, however I did gain weight and lose weight irregularly. I'm currently a professional student living about 600 miles away from my surgeon so I'm just trying to make sure I get everything done & keep to my tight schedule!
Is there anyone with Anthem BCBS that can offer a little insight on what is expected?
Thanks! [emoji4]

Do you have any comorbidities? I had Anthem and had to do the 6 month diet. My nutritionist told me not to lose more than 5-10lbs, because my BMI was 39, but because of my comorbidities( diabetes, hbp, high cholesterol, thyroid, and 3 back surgeries). I shouldn’t have. Problem qualifying as long as I saw her once a month. I was approved.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
