Depressed

Recommended Posts

Not sure where to post this but...

I didn't have any mobility issues till after surgery. I mean it's temporary but still messing with my head. I never had problems showering or walking before.

To make matters worse, my daughter has been at her grandparents house. They planned a vacation and my daughter wants nothing to do with me. I missed her so much though. I know I'm being overdramatic but damn.

I'm on Oxys for pain but I've been having horrific nightmares since!

Like I'm actually depressed. Really depressed. I take pills for it but they're not even working.

Damn

April, I am not entirely sure I am following it all. What I can say is that WLS is a big deal, a big emotional rollercoaster - but it gets better. Alot better. I am six years post op, and life has gotten much much better.

Hang in there, and if you are really depressed - please call a mental health hotline and talk to someone. Thinking of you.

I am sorry you are feeling like this, just know that we are all here if you need to chat. I second Cowgirl Jane, maybe seek out a professional?

Have you spoken to your Doctor - maybe they can refer you to a therapist to speak to.

Get on top of these feelings before they get worse.

Best wishes

My theory is: major surgery is a little like being in a car wreck, you're stiff, sore and,if gonna take, awhile to heal. Take things slow, if i didn't feel would be worth it I wouldn't be planning to join you on the losers bench. Be kind to yourself, the veterans I've read here say it will and I believe them you're on your way to better health. You're being tested but I believe you'll make it. You have a lot of Baribrothers and sisters sending you love. Keep us updated.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
