Two NSVs from this weekend!

I was able to buy knee-high boots from PAYLESS!! EXCUSE ME???! Last year Torrid's boots were too small for my calves.

Also, I can cross my legs while sitting! I can't actually remember the last time I was able to do this. I don't think I even could in high school! YAAAYYYY!!

My new to me skinny jeans that were given to me a month ago (and we’re super tight!) are now too big.

A couple of NSV this past week...

1. Fit into my old favorite bathing suits (size 12s & 14s) - Was able to retire my "new" big girl suits for my old fashionable ones

2. Bought a appropriate US size (#'d) Harley Davidson capris (reality, they were US size 12/14 - and must've been UK sizing) a couple years back and they never fit.... tried them on for giggles the other day and they buttoned :)

3. tried on a pair of old jean capri's today - haven't been able to wear in 3 years.... FIT....:D

I have managed to get rid of all of my pre surgery clothes, went on a trip to Alaska and managed to fit in the airplane seat! I have also managed to be able to fit my formerly big behind into any and all roller coasters at the local theme park!!! That alone was an amazing feeling since there were only a few rides that I was small enough to get on. I am currently halfway into working my way up to being able to jog a 5k in less than 25 minutes with my golden doodle and when that happens I will be doing cartwheels! By far one of the best decisions of my life to have this surgery!!

Ran 5k today without stopping - first time in my life I have ever managed to do this with no stops....in under 40 mins :) training for my first 5k event next month - running in memory of my sister (great motivator!), raising money for the hospice that supported her 💕

I am a newborn baby photographer. Others like myself wrap babies by putting them in their lap. I have never been able to do that because my tummy was to big. I had to use a table or wrap them on the bean bag I use to pose them. TODAY I wrapped the baby on my lap! I almost cried. It was so much easier.

Tucking my shirts in! I have never ever done this but now! Flat tummy, no bulges, no bum... feels like a million dollars to do this.

I rode any ride I wanted to at Universal Studios without worrying whether I'd fit! Buckled my seatbelt on the plane with belt to spare. Just, overall, felt "normal" for the first time in a very long time.

I went for a stroll with my coworkers and didn’t hate it, kept up, and wasn’t a hot, sweaty out of breath mess after!

Also- I wear a men’s tee shirt size that’s smaller than my husbands! This hasn’t been the case since the year we met.

It’s things like the above that keep me motivated and going!

love it instant advenure, or of my future dreams is to wear Tomkittens t shirts or be smaller. He has gone down from 3x to 2x ones left from his angel brother, I am hoping people will regard me as. his pretty Mama instead of a fat old broad I always see him with. Oh I will work it all out!

I went jeans shopping at Lucky yesterday. I shopped in a brick-and-mortar store that wasn’t a big and tall store. I had to try on different options to see which was best. Oh, it was a whole new world.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
