Has The Way People See/Treat You different Now?

Recommended Posts

At my current job I take care of special needs children and children with behavioral issues in a school setting. Tho my coworkers constantly request me to work In there classrooms because I am good at what I do, my supervisor seems to think that since I am fat then I must be a lazy worker regardless of of recommendations I’ve gotten. Since I haven’t had my surgery yet I was wondering If those who have already had the surgery have noticed that people have started treating you better because your no longer the fat and obviously lazy person? People who maybe talk to you now that never even notice out before?

People who knew me before the surgery haven't treated me very different, I think. Most people are happy for me and the progress I've made. I have noticed that men are more receptive of me. It's not that they were cruel or mean to me before, I just felt like men never really saw me, but now they do, I guess, or maybe I'm just more aware of it.

People always perceive you based upon your appearance. It's a sad fact of life. Post surgery, I'm down 65 lbs and it's been a very different experience for me. Before my surgery, I couldn't get a job. People looked at me like I was lazy and fat. Post surgery, interviews are easier, and i got a seasonal job after one interview. I wish I could tell you that it won't matter, that the only thing that matters is how you perceive yourself and it's about what is inside that matters, but I won't lie to you. The world is a very superficial place and some people will change their attitude and opinion of you based upon your changed appearance. BUT YOU SHOULDN'T! You know your value and your worth. Don't let the others determine who or what you are by your appearance. Take their changes toward you in stride. You can't fix stupid.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
