Disney vacation planning... newly sleeved.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I am 8 days post-op and I'm feeling good! I am so completely tired of the liquid diet, however, I know this is what I have to do to be healthy and successful. Here's the problem... I am a part-time Disney travel agent and I have an upcoming Walt Disney World trip coming up at the end of February. I've been doing a lot of planning while I've been home recovering. I've been driving myself mad reading restaurant menus freaking out that I'm not going to get my Protein and Water quota while walking 12+ miles a day. At this point I will be just over 3 months post-op. Can anyone give me any suggestions, experiences, advice on how to stay energized and not get sick while in the parks? Luckily, it will be winter so I'm not too concerned with the sun dehydrating me. I also know that this is in the future and I don't know how my body and my new stomach will be then. Just looking for some input.

Thanks!

I work outdoors and I have a small cooler. I put an ice pack in it with my 32oz water bottle, two muscle light shakes, 2 yogurts (oikos triple), string cheese, canned salmon/tuna fish and edamame Beans. These items are light and you can eat them throughout the day on the go.

All of those are great ideas, but you do need to get your Water in. I live near Disney, and our winter is not like actual winter. February is often in the 80s and extremely sunny. Dehydration can happen year round.

If you don’t want to carry food around, Disney has lots of options that can be fairly inexpensive. There are stands everywhere with healthy Snacks so you aren’t spending a lot on huge meals that would take a month to eat.

I usually get a kid’s meal with grilled chicken, side salad or broccoli, yogurt, and bottled water for $4.95. They have condiment bars with the Peanut Butter containers that I take for snacks.

Have fun! You’ll have a great time!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
