Shortness of breatg

Recommended Posts

Hi. I am one year post sleeve and suffering from pretty constant shortness of breath. I find i cant catch my breath and have to yawn to try and catch it. Its very worrying when it can go on for days on end. Has anyone else suffered the same?

Why dont you talk to a Dr? We are not Dr's. You may have to see a cardiologist.

That could be related to many different things but being short of breath is not anything to mess around with. You need to be evaluated by a physician or NP. Maybe you're anemic.

I was evaluated in the er...I never thought you were a dr but was posing the condition to see if someone else had the same and if they possibly had an idea

Not quite sure how....but I read that "shortness of breasts"

That is something I am decidedly NOT suffering.

My boobs look more like sweat socks dangling with tennis balls in the toes.

Three important things to live: Airway clear, Breathing, Circulation.

Breathing is pretty important.

Seek professional help if you can't breathe.

Side thought...

Sometimes acid can cause people to feel discomfort or stress in their chest. Can't hurt to try an antacid and see if it helps.

Sleeves do slip...if you develop a hiatal hernia and your stomach starts living in your chest with your lungs...that's a problem and might make breathing kinda weird.

Wild theories aside...the best thing to do is to tell your surgeon and get some damned tests done.

Best wishes!

Iron-deficient anemia can cause shortness of breath - and a restricted diet can cause this. perhaps request a CBC blood test from your doctor.

Anemia (from personal experience) will definitely make you feel like you can't breathe when NOTHING else is wrong, but only a physician can evaluate that.

Stands to reason you would feel that way if you ponder it. Anemia means you either don't have enough red blood cells or that they aren't doing their job too well. And just like you breathe much better when there is no pillow covering your face, your body cells feel and act better when they get enough oxygen to do all they can do.😛🌈😛

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
