Make small changes in your diet at a time. Don't be ashamed if you mess up. You are required to do 6 months because changing eating habits is HARD! Work with your nutritionist and let her know where are are struggling. It's nutrition and food habit counseling! Use it that way! I lost 30 pounds during my 6 month nutrition program. It really isn't a DIET. It's an eating habit and lifestyle change. Make small changes at a time and you will do great! I just got my surgery date for December 21st!

Make a little list and check off when you have mastered a goal. For instance - I gave up all soda and switched to ice tea the first month, then I stopped doing any fast food or if that is too hard - ditch the fries, then half the bun, etc.

Do 3 meals and two Snacks. Make the snacks a Protein and a fruit like berries and string cheese, an apple and 1oz of cheddar.

Eat at a table only, not in the car, not on the couch, not in front of a computer or tv. Notice your food, eat slower, stop after 10 minutes and see how full you feel, leave food on your plate.

I agree with everyone else, keep track of what you are eating, make small changes one at a time. Don't beat yourself up if you have slips because you will. Learn your triggers.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
