So today I had my last nutritionist appointment until after my surgery. I've had my psych eval, will get my sleep study results on Tuesday, and after a class on 11/20 my info goes to insurance for approval. I know I'm still a few months away from surgery, but as excited as I am for this new journey Im incredibly anxious/nervous! anyone else get a case of the nerves when they were coming closer to surgery? I still 100% believe I need this/want this, but at the same time I'm scared for the actual surgery and recovery. I know most seem to want things to go fast, but I almost wish I had more time to get myself prepared and ready for this huge step. Anyone else feel like this or am I kind of an anomaly?

So, serious question here, why not wait? Not forever, but maybe a month or two while you prepare? Geez, there's a thread on the board about someone who got a procedure she didn't even know she was getting and/or understood. I wouldnt want to be that person,

Very normal I hope. I am just two days Post Op...just got home from the hospital yesterday. Had the exact same feelings you are having now. I just focused on how I am going to feel abouy myself come this Christmas after I have my "new tool installed"

Killain you've been on this board for over a year --do you really suggest the OP surge ahead in a MONTH?

Honestly I'm following my surgeon's lead on this, they tell me what I need to accomplish, and so far I've been able to do so quicker than I was expecting. I still don't have my surgery date, if I were to guess I'd say I probably won't have one till mid/late December or even January. I definitely know exactly what I'm getting into (I'm a research junkie), but as a rule my anxiety tends to weigh in on things. I've just seen most people seem to be anxiously awaiting surgery and want everything to move as fast as possible and I'm sort of teetering on the opposite. These first 3 months have flown by and I wasn't really expecting it. Did anyone find that feeling went away/lessened closer to surgery date?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
