New from Indiana

Hi all. I am so glad I found this place. My name is Kelly and I am schedulded to have my band on December 17th. I was terrified for about a week after I found out and in just the past week have really accepted that this is going to happen..... I am extremely anxious, nervous, happy... the whole range of emotions. My biggest anxiety is fear of the unknown.... maybe that is just because I will have had 10 weeks to think about it. I am so glad this is here for support!:clap2:

Hi I too am from Indiana (around Indianapolis). I was banded 8 weeks ago. So far so good. Take a deep breath you will be fine. By day 3 I was walking a mile and back to work in 7. There is a lot to think about and like you said the unknown is scarry. Use this time to start walking or riding a bike. Start trying foods on your post-op diet list, and try different Protein Drinks to see what you like best. I personally like Unjury, but there are many kinds. Good luck and keep posting! :)

Cool more hoosiers! :whoo:

Anderson here. Dying city inc.

man I've been waiting for 2 months for my doc to let me know which surgeon/center I can go to. Whole insurance requires my personal do to make the referrals and I think she's dragging her feet.

She was suposed to set it up at St.vincent's in carmel at the bariatric center. I even submitted a application to them also and haven't heard back yet.

But I've heard good things about the bariatric center. And since my doc is the whole St.vincents network I didn't think it would take this long. lol

Go Colts!!!! I am also a Hoosier ( Indpls area ). My surgeon will be Dr Stephen Clark from St Frances Weight Loss Center.

I have several weeks until band date and am trying to become mentally prepared. Considering joining weight watcher (for the 100th time) to work on Portion Control. Good luck to all of you and please keep up posted.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
