Ladies

I was just wondering if any of you ladies find you need more calories during your cycle. My cycles are really heavy and a week long. By the middle of my cycle I feel weak and tired if I don't increase my consumption and my NUT said that I might need more nutrition due to the increased blood loss during my cycle. It's insane though, I average about 1100-1300 calories a day normally but this week I've been averaging 1500-1600:o. I've been adding iron rich foods at the insistence of my NUT. I just didn't know if this was normal?

Not sure if I need more calories, but I certainly feel voracious hunger and cravings the day before and through the first day. Usually by day 2 I'm back to normal. I've only noticed it because the other ~26 days of the month aren't this way at all. It can sometimes make me feel "weak-willed," but I realize it is hormones, then choose to eat something filling and nutritious. Then I choose to eat a single serving of very good dark chocolate :D

Thank for responding! While I have the normal cravings and such, which I avoid and chose healthy food, during the middle of my period which is usually the heaviest, I actually feel crappy if I don't up my calories (headache, tired, weak feeling) but this doesn't happen the rest of the month. My periods are really heavy though so I wonder if it's different than someone who has a normal or shorter cycle.

I don't bleed much (thanks ablation! ) but I suffer the same voracious appetite as white sail. I don't think I need the extra calories, but I try to make OK choices so I don't go overboard.
