It's probably not high enough in Protein to have a nutritional value to us, but if you have an egg and just want flavor then I can see the desire for real bacon. I eat about 1/3 slice of thick bacon with my egg and find just that small amount of flavor satisfying enough. And some NUTs really get on that low fat bandwagon to the nth degree, just sayin'. (But w/o some fat I can't poop, so I'm not following that bandwagon).

I am 2 weeks and a few weeks post op, so I am able to eat soft foods. What I want to know is when can I ear bacon? Lol. That's really the main thing I miss.

I waited for the real food stage for bacon. the debate on pork or turkey bacon. (don't forget sausage) Nummmmm

The leaner the meat - lower in calories and usually higher Protein grams.

2 slices Walmart turkey bacon 5g protein 70 calories - 80 calories and 5g protein. I use 1 slice of real bacon because the macos are pretty comparable. I love it on cobb salad and crumble it in scrambled eggs.

Two jimmy dean turkey sausage links 67 calories 8g protein - pork sausage link 113 calories - 6 g protein I tolerate turkey sausage better it has less grease/fat.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
