What are you eating in terms of calories/carbs/protein?

Recommended Posts

No matter how much guidance I got from my NUT and my surgeon, it never feels like enough advice on how much to eat.

What numbers do you try to stay at for calories, carbs, Protein, etc.?

I've been trying to stay between 750-900 calories, less than 60 carbs, and 90 or more carbs per day. Lately, I feel like maybe I could go a bit higher on calories.

How about you?

I was told less than 50 carbs but calories are about right. May depend on your height.

When my Nut found out that I was swimming three times a week she said I needed "more" carbs and put my number at 50-70 (for my average 800 calories a day).

I can see why I am not losing weight now. I have been sticking to 400-500 calories a day. Can I ask how much weight you all are losing? I am very discouraged.

I eat about 800-1000 calories a day. I have lost 90 lbs since 10 day pre op diet. I also work out 3x a week

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
