My surgery was Tuesday. Just a couple of oddities. I’m noticing this sound/sensation that reminds me of eating pop rocks. Any one else? Also I’m wonder if it is normal to not have bowel movements during the clear liquid phase.

I didn’t have a BM for 11 days . I was told it’s normal during the liquids phase also the pain medication can constipate . I was told that now I should go about 3x per week since I’m on puréed foods now and if I’m not I should take a laxative to assist me . I wouldn’t worry just mention at your follow up.

So sorry to read that you are in pain. Are you feeling better yet? What was the drainage tube for?

Usually Drainage tube is if you have excess bleeding after surgery. They put in a tube to drain it

It's surgeon preference for the most part. One surgeon group I work with NEVER uses them another uses it on a regular basis. There are certain surgeries/conditions it's necessary for but in this case (a sleeve on a relatively healthy young adult) it's most likely preference

Day 12? Sheesh...I know that had to be uncomfy. I already have some milk of mag just in case I don't go on my own. Pain and Constipation sounds like a nuisance lol

Honestly it wasn't uncomfortable at all, mostly because of the preoperative bowel prep and consuming next to nothing there's not a lot in you.

And I was taking benefiber and colace everyday. Took Miralax the night before just because I didn't want it to become uncomfortable and 12 days is a long time , but I think think most people will be fine not going for close to 2 weeks

I don’t know if that is normal but so far I have not had a BM since the day of my surgery. Now that I am steadily taking in Protein again I am going to start adding Fiber and try to get things moving. If that doesn’t work I plan to try a laxative.

Have a great day!

It's been rough for me. How about you? I hope all went well for you. I'm really struggling right now and I have been since the surgery was over.

Home or in the hospital?

If you're in the hospital stay on top of the nurses about pain meds. I did and I felt incredible the while time I was there, on another planet sometimes but this is major surgery so we're allowed to enjoy the good drugs :D

Still at the hospital. I can't pass gas but I've become an expert at dry heaving gas.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
