Came down with a cold and my surgery is on Thursday. Have some crackling in my lungs and a cough. What are the chances this can be gone by then. Any ideas?

I really think it will depend on your surgeon. My sister had her surgery in August this year, but was originally scheduled in July, but she was postponed due to an upper respiratory infection. But I would check with your surgeon too. I really hope you feel better asap!

My surgeon would have cancelled. I know that stinks...but...it's major surgery. So you DO want to feel your best. Sometimes you feel like you've been run over by a truck, others do fine. There is no telling. I had to report to my surgeon the minute I got sick. It's worth a call to him to know your options. Good luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op diet, the head hunger is a bh . I don’t physically feel hungry but every time I stop moving I want to eat. Definitely going to have to start doing my workout videos again when I’m not being busy. Ugh doing homework, studying, waiting for my kids to get out of school; I didn’t realize how much I used to just sit and mindlessly eat. It makes me really mad at myself for having let this happen. I will get through this, we all will, and be better for it

Have a great day!

So today is my third day post op.
I was sleeved on 11/10. My surgery was scheduled for 6 pm however my surgeon was apparently running behind, which of course made me anxious. My surgery started at 8:17 pm and need at 9:41 . I did not have a hernia.

The next two days were hard for me once I was awake and drinking Water but there was a lot of nausea, gas pain and dry heaving. I just felt so delirious and all I wanted to do was sleep. I ended up staying 2 nights instead of 1 for monitoring . Today is day three and I am feeling about 60% back to normal. Minor soreness . I am able to sip the water with out any issue and the popsicles are life saviors but I’m struggling with the Protein. Any advice ?

Congrats! I spoke with my surgeon about the protein intake and his team assured me were ok without it during the first week post op. They want to be sure we're just staying hydrated, period. If we get it down, great that is just a bonus.

I hear you! I can't even keep all of my Water down yet and I'm still missing food! Has anyone else noticed how every other commercial on TV is for food? It's become a running joke in our house!

I can't wait until I'm able to eat yogurt or SOMETHING!

Omg yes I noticed on my preop diet . Every show also, their either in the supermarket shopping for food or making food or eating in every show. I feel like it’s teasing me .

I used zicam . I recovered very quickly and it didn’t interfere with my Sugeiry.

I was going to say the same thing. Make sure you can take in Water, broth, tea, Jello. That type of thing. Then if you can, try protein with one meal. you can even get the unflavored protein (Genpro or Unjury) and add it to broth or tea. This is what I do when I cannot stand to drink another shake. I also will take 1/4 cup plain 0% Fage greek yogurt and add a scoop of unflavored protein and a tablespoon of sugar free pudding (vanilla or chocolate). I add some water and then I take my time eating that. Just go slow. We'll all get there. good luck

I have been taking Zicam swabs. Did you have a cough? I am perfectly fine besides this darn cough! No fever or anything. I'm determined to kick this by Thursday. My insurance changes Jan 1st so I am terrified of being rescheduled! I had a baby this year so I've reached my deductible and max out of pocket for the year.. Been drinking a ton of broth, sitting in the steamy shower, Benadryl, sudafed, inhaling essential oils the whole 9! Ughughugh!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
