OMG Pre op starts today [emoji1488][emoji53][emoji51][emoji29][emoji30][emoji22]

I start my all liquids today. My surgery is scheduled for 10/11/17. I’m just hoping and praying I make it through this. I went for my last pre op appointment yesterday and they gave me 12 prescriptions to start before and after surgery. Also, I was told I’ll be in the hospital for one night and the next day a nurse will come to my home. My doctor is sending me home on an IV. S**t is getting real now. I’m so scared. At times I wonder if this is really my last resort at losing weight and why I have to do something so tragic. Please pray that I make it through this. I hear ya! I started my pre op diet yesterday (all liquids) and I tell you, it is hard! My surgery (Bypass) is scheduled in Houston for October 10th. I am questioning myself the same way, can I really not get a handle on my weight by myself and get on some type of clean eating and get the weight off? I go back and forth with this issue and I have tried so many times. I need to lose between 80-100 lbs and that is a lot of weight. I only have to stay one night in hospital, but I don't have all those prescriptions to deal with, just pain medicine, Zofran and B12 I believe. Good luck to you.

Don't fret about needing surgery. It is a hard pill to swallow, but at least you are actually doing something about your situation. There are people in this forum that waited until they were in their 60s and wish that they could have had it done decades ago.

You will do well, and have the rest of your life to live the way you have always wanted to. Your health will greatly improve as well.

One thing that I will tell you is if you are a caffeine drinker (coffee, soda, iced tea), let it go now. You will get the withdrawal over with before surgery. You don't need to be going through withdrawal while recovering from surgery. Trust me, you will thank me later.

Also, stock your shelves with drinks (zero calorie), Protein Shakes, Soups, etc. now. Get your heavy lifting out of the way. That way you won't need to do this later.

Good luck!

Maybe wait to buy a lot of anything because your taste changes so it seems. I thought it was just me but I know lots of people have said the same thing. Heck, my taste for foods that I use to love I can't stand now. It took me almost 2 years to like onions and garlic again. It made me sick to my tummy. Every time my hubby cooked with them I had problems with it.

Just remember it will be worth it. I'm on day 4 now of liquids and since I haven't cheated, I can tell you it is true the hunger pains do go away. Your head occasionally wants food but my tummy is fine and I don't want for anything. I can tell already I've lost weight. Just get that protein/ fluids in and you will be good!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
