Problem with gurgling sounds

Recommended Posts

I am having gurling sounds coming from my throat and stomach after . I recently was banded in May 2007. I have had two fills since then. My band can hold a total of 4cc's currently I have 2 cc's. What is that noise it is quite embarassing and loud? Has anyone else experienced this?:help:

I gurgle a LOT. In a few different ways. There is my band gurgle, which is around the band area. Usually happens when I'm eating or stuck. Then there's the burp gurgle, which is in my throat and sounds very much like a burp, only I'm not burping, it's just a noise I'm mkaing in my throat. Pre-op I would get this if I drank quickly/chugged, but now I get it all the time, and regardless of what I'm doing. I also have a similar gurgle that's like a 2 stage burp. Hard to explain.

I gurgle, burp, and hiccup all the time.

I have normal rumbling from 'hunger', throughout the day at work.

When I drink, I have a 'squish squish' and gurgle that lasts for a while.

And then I burp almost anytime something goes in me!

It's not really something you can explain, instead it is something you have to watch yourself doing. Kinda like using a straw. You WILL get air in your mouth using a straw but it's your choice to let it out before you swallow or not. Same thing applies to food. You just have to be ultra aware of what you are swallowing and get the air out first.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
