September Sleevers- How are you feeling??

Recommended Posts

Hi,

had my surgery Sept 21 and i to am hungry quit a bit more than i think i should be. I managed to lose 40 lbs in two months but i see lots of others struggling just to eat normally where i feel i can eat with no problem. i started weighing my food so as not to over eat and definitely not eating junk but i have to weigh cause like i said i feel i can eat about over 6 ounces no problem. I started going to the gym three weeks ago and started machines this week for my core but i have accountability and have to lose 6 lbs by Dec 1st when i see my doc and it doesn't seem to just be 'coming off' like some people have described here! I know every ones body is different i just wonder if I'm doing something wrong. Any advice is appreciated

Just short of my 2 month anniversary. On normal food....which I weigh most days. I have found a boring habit for Breakfast and lunch works best. I have cottage cheese with sugar free fruit for breakfast and then a snack mid morning. For lunch I usually have tuna fish on crackers or toasted sugar free diet break. A cheese or other high Protein snack mid afternoon. dinner is often out. I have found about 2/3rd of a hamburger steak or 4 OZ steak, chicken or fish with some steamed vegetables will work. Losing about 2 lbs a week most weeks. Walking a bit, playing golf, and starting some exercise now that my joints are not bothering me. Biggest issue is getting in Fluid. I find myself forcing down that last 16 oz of Water in the later afternoon. Overall, I feel good and continue to see progress. Hope all of you September folks are doing well!

Hey all

im finally 10.5 weeks out!! I’m 45 pounds down overall and feeling pretty good. There are a few things that have been bothering me:

1. Acne all over my face.

2.legs are still getting swollen

3. Everything is moving to my ass beside back fat

4. Knee pain is a real thing STILL

5. Hunger pain are back are to normal

6. I still cry when I can’t finish my food

weight has fully slowed down. I had my stall at three weeks and it lasted two weeks. After that I have lost at most 3 pounds a week or maybe 2 oz a week.

i went from 430 to 385.4 I’m happy that I got the surgery but this has been a life changing experience that I will never take for granted. This thanksgiving will be a test for me since this will be my first holiday .

I mean I have to weigh my food stay away from rice, bread and Pasta cake the right choices which are hard cause the wrong ones don't fill your pouch and work out which makes me more upbeat so I don't mind that! I have head hunger always and my pouch can definitely accomadate more which worries me going into the holidays . But we all have to adjust in our own way and work the program follow the rules and hope for the best

43lb in 10 weeks is awesome! I definitely gain Water weight just before my period, then swoosh, let it all go a couple days later. It sounds like you are doing everything right diet and exercise wise. I think its easy for us to get discouraged or stressed when the scale isn't moving or temporarily going in the opposite direction because many of us have failed at dieting so many times part of us is just waiting to fail bariatric surgery as well. Please don't be discouraged, it's just a bump in the road, look at all the progress you have made so far!

Thanks nessy and yes it is easy to get discouraged and do hard not to compare yourself to others that have lost more in the same amount of time! Thanks fir the encouragement doing my best not eating the bad things and trying to stay positive isn't easy when u go backwards

No problem! I had a little freak out of my own today thinking I was doing something wrong bc the scale is barely moving. I thought “i’ve been in the 190’s forever!” . In reality I looked back at my weight and I’ve been in the 190’s for a little more than 2 weeks and I have lost 6.8 lbs in that time. It’s a head game for sure.

Ok ok that's great ! I'm sept 21st so little over 10 weeks idk it's a lot slower than I thought. Where are u with calories? How much are u taking in per day?

I would say I average about 900 cal/ day, some days higher or a little lower since 1 week post op. I freak out a little about this bc others here say they didn't go above 600 cals for the first 6mos etc or til goal, but it seems to be working. Log everything i eat on my fitness pal, like you, no bread, Pasta, processed foods, sugar. 70-90 g Protein, 50 ish in carb and prob 40 in fat. Had been doing a light gym routine a few days a week for 3 weeks but just start crossfit, so may need to change my intake depending on how i feel, recover.

For the most part that's pretty low still I can do about 1300 sometimes more sometimes less but not unhealthy my portion sizes are still smaller but more than in the beginning . It's frustrating

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
