As a newbie I'm asking "What kinda site is this?"

Recommended Posts

Thanks XYZ. I was very honestly not wanting to create a stir, I really wanted to know if others felt supported and edified. Believe me, I understand that there are jerks in the world, but I am in a place right now where I want to set myself up for success, not agitation.

I'm relatively new here too. I've seen some of the negative remarks and just skipped over them. I personally have only had supportive comments written to my post.

While I understand that Veronique, you would certainly think that "normal" people wouldn't be talking about blowing peoples heads off with a 9 mm!!!! Childish....

I've found a great book online today that should help you find ways to beat your post-op depression.

I don't remember seeing that post but I will tell you one thing, if she is really a psychologist, her licensure needs to be a thing of the past.

I just joined this site yesterday and I was surfing the forums, and I couldn't help recognizing all of the fighting...is this normal?

Never seen an internet discussion platform of any kind where it doesn't occur. So I guess it's normal.

I saw the post about a week ago and saw that it turned absolutely crazy then, after I saw the first few posts I said forget it and have not returned to that monster. I know its what happens but that does not make it excusable either. Oh well, I guess the anonymity of the internet gives some folks more bravado since they really are not saying it to someones face. I don't know all I know is that it is an absolute shame. But I will agree with others, ignore them and move on because this site does have quite a bit of information that has helped me out! Ignore the nonsense and move on!:D

Honestly, I need the support. I don't want to tell them I'm depressed as I am because I'm afraid they won't do the surgery....

I'm at a loss to know what you're referring to, celticNgel.

I have posted my story.

I have responded to other people's weight loss news.

People have responded to me by offering me hope, advice or words of applause.

Of about 180 responses in ten days, only ONE has been negative.

Maybe, I'm guessing, you have entered the wrong forums.

YMMV, but I discussed my depression during my eval and I was approved. I don't think depression in and of itself will disqualify you unless it is impairing your ability to comply with your program.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
