Calling all October sleevers!!

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm getting pretty nervous... my surgery is in less than two weeks and I have no one to talk about it really.

My partner is the only one that knows and he's so supportive but probably not as interested in the finer details and concerns and querying I have on a daily basis, as the date approaches. So I do feel a little isolated having my concerns go unanswered.

I recently had surgery (a week ago) to have all four of my wisdom teeth removed and I had a horrible time with pain relief. Nothing worked and I had to just ride it out. They had me on Tremadol, telling me to up my dosage and it did nothing except constipate me beyond belief. This worries me a lot coming up to what I know is going to a painful recovery and the possibility of being constipated as a reaction to pain medications as well as in pain is just a little too much to handle all on my own.

Anyone have anything they can share with me, to try and alleviate some of my concerns?

caffeine is allowed or not allowed in this pr-op shakes and clears phase? I think not....but I left my paperwork at home and I am at work, and I do not feel like calling the office....

I was advised x1 coffee, no sugar or milk pre op. May be different for other countries (this advice was given to me in Australia).

Hope they helps?

Personally, I would probably just ring and ask them to email the guidelines anyway as a back up!

Every program is different. It was fine by mine but then again, I also am allowed to drink coffee 4-5 post-op.

I’m over a week post-op now and have yet to want coffee though.

Good luck.

4days to go kept to the pre op diet, mine said basically 2 pints of skimmed milk just over half a chicken breast each day.(don't like green salad) Tea and coffee as long as I use the milk quota. Lost nearly 14lbs in 10 days getting slightly easier.Minimal energy as you would expect but taking it 1 day at a time. Oh forgot the jelly, mixed it with some of the milk for something different. Dearly hope my hunger after the op is diminished 😂 Good luck to everyone on the waiting lists !

Yes, it’s worth it, even after having a complication after surgery!! You’re making the best decision of your life! [emoji173]️

When you mentioned 'jelly', my eyes double-checked. 95% of the mentions on here are for 'jello'. It was obvious you were from the UK, NZ, RSA or AUS.

Then when I read that you mix jelly powder/crystals with milk, I knew Immediately you weren't a South African or an Australian.

Only people from New Zealand or the UK could try to make jelly flavours co-exist with dairy. :D

:):D:):D

Well, best wishes to you.

My seven day post-op driving exclusion ended last night so I'm off to see my two local grandchildren in an hour.

You'll probably be prepped and worked upon while I'm on the freeway.

Hope it all goes well.

If you don't mind me asking, did you notice that you gained any weight from the fluids or anything?

Sleeved 10/10/17 • HW 280 (3/1/17) • SW 259 (10/10) • GW 180 (TBD)

I gained 4 lbs from the IV Fluid after surgery. The next day it was gone.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
