Hmm... I think I waited like 2 weeks or so. DH was a little afraid to touch me before that, and although I recovered quickly, my port (in the middle of my abdomen) stayed sore for a while. It's been a while since I was banded, but I do remember sticking to either "doggy style" (I hate calling it that) , where we're laying on our sides, or me on top backwards. These seemed like the least likely to irritate my port area.

i was wondering about doggy style, (and i hate callin it that too!), i didnt know if it would be uncomfy, w/ my belly being sore, and then hangin (yucky mental pic for ya there, sorry), ya know? good to know it worked for you. i was thinkin the on our side thing would be good.

i guess i will let ya know what worked tonight tomorrow.

If the belly hanging bothers you, just bend over a couple of pillows. Hmm, I think I've suggested pillows - in the context of sex - a few times today. Seems they're a cure-all. ;) Anyway - that will take the hanging pressure off of your belly, while still giving you a soft way to support it.

I wondered about that as well ;) So thanks for asking and of course thanks to all who shared their stories. I will get all I can before my band on 10/30/07! And I am sure after a while he will not be able to keep his hands off this great new me (here's hoping:whoo:

Doggy seems to be the less invasive for me too when it comes to band discomfort. I don't like the name either, but it is what it is. I don't like the position because we can't kiss or look at each other, but.. its one of my favorite 'feeling' positions :guess and it doesn't bother my port at all.

I've never liked being on top, and I know he hates that, but anytime I'm on top my mind is just going 'I'm going to crush him'. He says I'm not, but if that's all I am thinking I can't get into it. Bending over stuff (variation of doggy) is always nice too. Like kitchen table, counter, couch, etc. Oh.. and being on top in a recliner is good too. Doesn't hurt the band and for my insecurities, I hold onto the top of the recliner and legs on the arms.

Yeah, if you come to my house be careful what you eat off of. :whoo:

Aww Faith.

OK ladies, and funny its all ladies replying to this thread, I think.... anyway for me it was 5 days, and the variation we chose was for me to lay on my back with my butt on the edge of the bed. It worked well for us, but our bed is 4 feet off the floor, but the concept is good. No pressure on the abdomen. And if any men are looking at this thread, my hubby was banded earlier than me, and it was the same position, about 5 days post op also. Hope everyone is enjoying their journey and their successes. Keep up the good work.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
