I am 2 wks post op and I know things get better but I am so unhappy right now. I can barely drink Water. food cravings are long gone and the hunger pain is gone as well. I feel nauseous with every sip and my acid reflux is kicking my ass. I opted for this surgery to help me lose the weight so my dr. Would replace my ACL and now I just feel like I would've rather been stuck in a brace for life. Please tell me it gets better.

Sorry you are struggling right now, the only thing I can suggest is asking your doc for a PPI for the reflux and try sipping warm weak tea, or sf popsicles.

I have a PPI for the reflux and it doesn't seem to be working although I'm sure it takes time. The sugar free pops believe it or not add to my heartburn. I'm unsure if its the artificial sweetners or what. It just seems like it is going to be a long battle right now. Thank you for your feedback I really appreciate it and hope you are doing well.

The early days are overwhelming and miserable, for most. If it helps at all - I hardly remember the pain and struggle of the first several weeks post-op. Those memories have faded. I do, however, remember 330 lb me. I promised myself I would never forget how it felt to be 170 lbs heavier - and I've never regretted my choice to change my life.

It will pass - I promise. And it will get easier every day. :)

You might need to increase your PPI's. I have to do two a day (1am/1pm). check with your surgeon.

This is the most difficult time, shorty you will be living life like you will not believe. It's not magic, it takes work and dedication but I've lost over 200lbs through this process and a previous program. My life is so much better now, its crazy!! give your self and your body a break. You need time to heal and recover.

I wish you the best of luck and success!!

I remember feeling like you do! Despite my post about stomach pain, it does get better.
Water is the worst! Post op my nutritionist said she always hears that...but apparently it never dawned on her to warn me.
I never did like the crystal light stuff, now I drink it all day. I still do very little water (and I was a huge water drinker!). Room temp is easier than cold for some reason.
If your reflux is still that bad call the doc and ask for stronger or different meds.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
