How many times a day do you eat 4 ounces per meal?

Recommended Posts

I am just curious. 8 weeks post and finanly enjoy eating again * was abit of a chore at first*

I am wondering can I really eat 4 ounces of food ( usually protein/spinnach) I have not tried anything like nuts or 'snack food' just would be my main food in smaller portions lol) My snack just was 2 ounces of grilled chicken a cheese stick and small amount of spinnach total 3.58ounces. Anyway I am on my second 'meal' so if i only do this three times I only have one meal left ha.

Could I eat 4 ounce meals 5 times and still lose if I stick to protien /veg/cheese? Is this okay?

What do you do?

I have not spoke to my nut recently and at first it was 2 ounce x6 times a day and now i think i can almost get to 4 ounces i feel that means i will have to eat less ( ive never wanted to eat more lol its weird, i have found it hard to eat on a schedule and now i cant wait till the next meal time?

Will this be okay for weightloss ?

4 ounce - 3 meals a day or 4 ounces 3+ meals a day which one seems best for weightloss ?

Or do some of you do 2 ounce Snacks instead of 4?

thanks

Don't focus too much on the number of meals a day. (Well, some programs REALLY want their patients doing 3 meals from the very beginning).. but I don't think that's necessary, or possibly healthy, if you feel too hungry, you'll overeat.

So, I prefer to see patients focus on their goals. Figure out how many Proteins, carbs, fat, and calories you need, and then create a plan that meets all these goals. Eat as often as necessary to meet your goals.

I find, by tackling it this way, I have to push to get everything in, and eating becomes something different in my brain. It's no longer hobby, socialization, comfort, or any of that jazz... it's fuel and nourishment. Period. And that's a good thing!

I don't feel guilty about eating now since when I don't eat, I feel weak. (hmm.. when I was a teenager, I was embarrassed to eat in front of people since I was heavy... I forgot about that! Lol!).

If I have a day where I meet all my goals, and find I'm still hungry.. veggies are always on the menu. So there is no panic that I'll be left hungry, and not "allowed" to eat (a common problem while dieting).

Sorry, this post is a little all-over-the-place.. but hopefully something here is applicable ;)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
