I am 10 days post-op and very discouraged about my weight loss. I weighed 318 before my pre-op diet. The day of surgery I weighed 305. I was thrilled about that. I came home from the hospital two days later and weighed 313! I realize that they pumped me full of fluids and that is why but it was rather depressing. Today I weighed myself and I'm 304. That's only 1 pound from my pre-surgery weight. It's just so discouraging. I've weighed this amount the last three days. I'm following my post-op diet to the letter. I'm getting in my Water. I'm trying to move and walk as much as I can. It's so discouraging to be doing everything the doctor says and not really seeing results.

Hello, i totally get you, i used to be in your shoes, but my nutriologist said to me "your work its to follow my instructions and excersice, dont weight yourself at home, thats my job, if u dont drop weight its me who should be worried" and i did that i locked my weighing machine, and i only get my weight at my appointments, trust me we all wanna see the difference in a matter of days, i mean we are eating less than a baby, and the cravings and our body is crazy in those moments, just give it a little time and you will see the results. In my case i weighted my self 3 to 4 time per day so i was kinda falling into obsession, im doing my job and the weight will drop by its own.

Dont worry, its the best thing you could have done.

It'll come off. No worries!! You're body is probably in shock, like, what the hell just happened?! I was the same way, slow weight loss the first week or so then the scale moved. I was told not to weigh myself so much or at all at home, I have to though. But I don't get discouraged when it doesn't move for a few days.

My surgeon told me that there are turtles and hares when it comes to the rate of weight loss after surgery -- and that there's no way of predicting, but both will cross the finish line if they don't get sidetracked and keep to the program. Keep hanging in there!

I am 3wks post-op and haven't lost anything this week. Based on other comments I assume by body is getting used to the transition to soft foods. Hang in there.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
