@niseys4 sounds great, thanks! What's the name of the bariatric cookbook you got from Amazon?

Hello OmaJ
The name of the cookbook is called "Fresh Start Bariactric Cookbook" by Sarah Kent.
I hope this book will be helpful to you as it is for me! It has recipes from all stages of eating. Like the liquid to Full liquids, pureed/soft food to the last stage of general eating.

This is the southerner in me, but grits are on our my surgeon's list for pureed food. I just got quaker instant grits, heated it with Water, added a half scoop of unflavored GNC Protein Powder and 42g of fat free cheddar cheese. I then divided it into 2 oz servings and stored the leftovers.

Cheesy grits were amazing after a week of liquids!

How about pimento cheese? It's been a staple for me. I never actually pureed anything. I just had softish food like yogurt, canned chicken, pimento and ricotta cheese and chewed thoroughly.

See this is what I have been thinking of doing. I have had zero problems with liquids so far. Knock on wood. And i advance to puree in a few days, but that sounds so gross so i really want to just east softer foods and just chew really well. How is that working for you?

Thanks for the cookbook recommendation. I just got it in kindle - GREAT cos my surgeon has given me only very vague liquid to purée to soft to normal eating directions!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
