exercise and stalls?

Recommended Posts

Hello!

wondering if anyone has experienced stalls while exercising more heavily? It feels like I can track all my stalls back to when I'm working out with my trainer - cardio, HIIT training, some weights. If this is something that happened to you as well, how did you counter?

I eat about 800-1000 consistently, 80g Protein and 70oz of Water. I'm about 3.5 months out. Any tips are much appreciated.

Thanks!

Oh man, where is that article when I need it?

Anyway, basically when you work out extra hard, you retain Fluid. When you ease up, your body lets it go. So you can decrease your intensity, or not worry about it.

I've been going to the gym and doing the elliptical and other things since I was 2 weeks post op. 2weeks ago I went back to doing kickboxing which I haven't done in 9months. Last Monday my weight was up 3.2 lbs!! I was devastated, I had to talk myself down saying there's no possible way that was real. It was just that my muscles wasn't used to doing that type of workout anymore. Tomorrow when I do my official weigh in (I'm an everyday weigher but only count Monday) my weight is going to be down those 3.2lbs plus some extra.

So just remember excercise is good for you, but yes, you may see a temporary gain, but it's only temporary. I did read it can last 2-3 weeks, but it will go away.

Increase Water and calories along with exercise. And consider a scale that measures lean and fat. Watching fat percentage go down is more productive than watching weight. Oh, and body measurements too. I'm eating 1600 calories daily now and losing weight. I'm 5'9" and 147 pounds (down from 237). I hope to end up eating close to 2000 per day, with an active lifestyle. I'm 7 months post op. I eat only Whole Foods--lots of veggies, lean Protein, fruit, whole grains. Feeling fabulous and only 7 pounds from goal. Daily exercise is key for me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
