1/16 here too! I am finding the urge to have one last meal harder and harder to ignore!! Still going strong but I just want one more amazing meal. Anyone else feel this way?!

I’m right there with you. I went out to dinner a couple of times & had steak & jumbo shrimp before I started the pre-op but I really wanted to go to the casino for the prime rib buffet before I did this. Oh well! I plan on eating small portions of delicious (expensive) lean cuts of meat & seafood with fresh fruits & veggies. The days of Quantity are passed time for the more expensive quality meals. I also love to cook so that’s a plus. Here’s to delicious 4-6 oz meals!

It was okay so far...If I could go back I would switch hospitals...St. Alexius Hospital in St. Louis is pretty freaking sketchy. I think I'm doing alright though, just having a hard time getting much down. At this point I would totally do it again, just at a different place! I'm already down 6lbs in two days though!!

Are you getting excited?? Congrats on your date, btw. Less than a week!

Yes excited to get this over with & be done with the pre-op portion of the plan. Congrats to you as well on the surgery & the weight loss present & future!

I like your positivity! Everything went so quickly for me! I saw the doctor on a Wednesday and said let’s do it! Saw the dietitian the next day and she told me to start the pre op diet!! The rest of that day and Friday I ate whatever I could and officially started my pre op that Saturday. 11 days days later is surgery which will be this Tuesday 1/16. Lots of other tests between all that. I am ready though. I like your idea of quality over quantity. I will no longer say “I hate fancy places. They never give you enough food!”

Tennisboy11, I worry when you said you were drinking Protein Drinks so soon. I am not allowed Protein drinks for at least the first week. Please be aware that protein will make you more constipated. My doctor gave me colace laxative on one of the days in the hospital to help get everything moving the right direction and to help with gas pain. Then the next day he gave me milk of magnesia which is a laxative. Both made a big difference and I believe that is what helped with the gas pain and helped me feel better. One thing that I have heard from others is comstipation can get so bad and extremely painful. Avoid at all cost.

I was curious too about Protein Shakes on day 4 post op too and called the nutritionist just to check and she confirmed it was right. I have been taking colace and some other terrible liquid every night too and finally had a bm yesterday so I’m feeling pretty good. I guess the one common theme I keep seeing on our thread is how different each of our docs approach our pre and post op steps but somehow we’re all doing alright, good thing we did as much research as we did on the surgeons. Have a wonderful first weekend with our new sleeves and hope you keep feeling better each day too!

Hi all Jan 8th sleevers. I just created a private Facebook group. Anyone can join but I wanted to make sure that everyone that was sleeved on Jan 8th knew about the facebook group and can join. I just now noticed that someone had made a facebook group as closed but not secret. I made mine secret and do not want others knowing my business. Please email me at seekinbigbadwolf@aol.com with your facebook name and I will send you an invite. You can also message me here. It is the only way to allow others to join since it is a secret group. Looking forward to starting a great group that will support each other!

Great! This is wonderful I was just getting read to ask about "secret" and "closed" group. I don't want anyone to be able to see my business or the groups I am a part of. I'll DM you my email so you can add me to the secret group

Thanks!

Yes I made a secret Facebook group. I think some people think that it is only for people who had surgery on Jan 8th. The facebook secret group is open to everyone regardless of when or if you have had surgery. You just need to email me at seekinbigbadwolf@aol.com and I will give you my facebook name. I do not want my business know to all and I like that it is secret. Anyone that wants to join, please do so. :) I look forward to all of us supporting and encouraing each other.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
