Does anyone have problems with Absortion of SSRI with VSG and DS

Hello everyone! I had my original surgery RNY Dec 2009 which was a hard road when finding the right dose for my SSRI zoloft. We work it out but i felt like i lost my mind for a while. Now that I am having my revision VSG & DS Aug 9th 2017. My question is does anyone have or had problem with absorption of there SSRI like zoloft? The reason I am asking is my for the DS part of the surgery because Zoloft work by breaks down and absorbing in the intestine.

I am very nervous about the UP coming surgery because of that factor. Any information would help!

Thank you

Violet

@Vtoney91108 I'm currently in your same situation, so my question to you is have you had the surgery yet and if the Zoloft absorb or have any side effects...This is a fear for me too being I depend on Zoloft for my anxiety.

Hello! So what I found out is that there might be a small less absorption than with my first surgery. I asked for the 25mg tab for after my surgery and I am on 225mg a day. I am able to take them since the surgery. All is well with my anxiety bit I will have to tell you the recovery is not easy for me because it was a revision for me. I would just make sure your Dr. Know that you may need the smaller mg so you don't have to crush them.. the only way I was able to handle the crushed was in sugar free pudding at the hospital...

@vtnoey91108 Ok thanks for replying back! Ok I will advise my Dr on the mg and keep in mind to mix with sugar-free pudding. I'm surprised you had a rough recovery from revision I've heard that the revision from a previous wls was pretty smooth. I hope you are adjusting well now
