Any prEbiotic powder allowed in the first post surgery time?

Recommended Posts

While we recover we are to try and get enough Water. Is it water only? For how many days? Can we add unsalted homemade clear strained Bone Broth in those days?

What happens to the gut biome as we recover? Don't they need Fiber or Probiotics to stay alive (and help us)? Is there a way to avoid total die off of our good bugs? Ex. Adding 1/8 tsp of a fiber powder like inulin to a bit of our water? Or how long can they go hungry and not hurt us physically and psychologically?

I am scheduled for surgery in two weeks. My nutritionist says, clear liquid day of surgery. Next day start liquid diet including strained cream Soups, Protein Shakes, calorie free drinks. When I am ready, I can move to pureed. All of this is with in the first two weeks.

As soon as I could post op I added low volume prObiotic liquid yogurt to my diet. I'm holding off on the Probiotics because I'm not sure what would happen when they swell in your new stomach. I believe in replacing healthy bacteria in your guy and do it every day.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
