Hello everyone, I'm just getting started on my surgery journey. I went to the doctor on Friday and met with the surgeon, nutritionist, had blood drawn, was given a meal plan, was given the info for the psychiatrist talked insurance reqs and had an EGD scheduled. I didn't know what to expect but I was impressed. I am waiting for them to call me about classes sometime this week. I have to complete 3 months of classes/wt loss attempt prior to approval for surgery for insurance. I'm excited about this and wondering if anyone has any tips? Thanks in advance!!!

Thank you! It's been something that I have been thinking about for a long time. I actually went to a consultation a few years back and chickened out. I never got as far as scheduling any other appts. I guess I got sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Congrats- I'm in the middle of the process myself. My insurance requires 6months supervised diet which seems like forever. I have had pretty much everything else on my checklist completed other than the diet. My last visit to the nutritionist will be Sept. and I hope to be approved for surgery and have surgery the following month(fingers crossed). I wish you the best.

I wish you the best! My last insurance provider required 6 months which does feels like forever. I'm glad this one is only three. They called me yesterday to say all my labs were good except my Vit D which was low so now I'm on a supplement for a couple months. My surgery is looking like late October- early November. Keep me posted on your progress!!!

I most certainly will keep you posted. I was low on Vit D also and was on some supplements for 8 weeks. :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
