Has anyone asked their surgeon if they would take a picture of their stomach after being removed? Just curious if anyone is as weird as me (according to my husband). Lol

My surgeon actually wanted to give me a video of the entire procedure. I opted out of that one haha

Yup I have asked my surgeon for photos and even asked for the video if possible too! [emoji23]

I think you should be able to keep it.....Like a tooth.

Or make a wine holder/bladder out of it you could take to outdoor festivals.

I've got pictures of my stomach pouch before , during and after. I nearly died when I saw it as I had no idea he was giving me bloody photos of it lol
I can see where he fixed my hiatus hernia and where he fixed in place my minimiser ring

I was mainly concerned about my liver (and asked my surgeon to show video/photos of it), which I have a high res photo paper of:

I would have liked to see video of the whole thing being done, but it's cool seeing this.. likely the only clear picture I'll ever see inside my abdominal cavity.

I wonder why you don't get to keep it if you ask. It's a piece of YOUR body.

My guess is for biopsy and proper disposal

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
