Not sure what ur Dr recommends but Mayo required 2 weeks prior to surgery to go on Optifast liquid diet. It was cheaper for me to buy on E-Bay. I didn't like it but it did prepare me.

I didn't have any problems with the surgery, healed really well. The first 3 1/2 months was challenging... I absolutely did not like anything! I had to force down food. I had some bouts of vomiting. Then after 3 1/2 months it was like a light build turned on! Everything started working together. I'm so happy I had the surgery, I have lots of medical issues & now I feel human! Off BP meds! Only 10 lbs to go!

this is an excellent site to help you with your journey.
