Thanks everyone for Praying. Smoke & wind have calmed and clean up begins. I just got done sweeping, raking and watering down the car port -- whew! Man, I couldn't have done that 30lbs ago. I'll leave the back of my mobile home for the kids to rake this afternoon. My beautiful Christmas tree in it's pot fell over, but we saved it. I use a live tree every year and was amazed at the winds strength. How could anyone deny the existance of our Lord when he commands the wind and the sea? While driving down a neighboring street, there were trees left and right just uprooted like some GIANT hand came along and plucked them right up -- amazing!

Weazer and Cindylu: I do know you from the May thread. I stopped going there for various reasons.

Renewedhope & Godzgurl: Congrats on surgery. I did not bounce back so quickly. Welcome to the family.

This Saturday I am going to a seminar in Los Angeles called "Moment of Truth" and the guest speaker is Khalia Ali who has had a lapband for 3 years and lost 100lbs. Khalia is the daughter of boxer Muhammed Ali and she wrote a book about her lapband journey. My boys are going on visitation and I thought this would be a great time to carpool with 2 gals that I met on LBT and get better aquainted on our car drive. I picked out my outfit, charged my camera batteries and I'm set to go. Can't wait to tell you all what I learned. :)

I am excited for the Christian support. I have not told very many people I got banded, so my support has been very limited. Christian support is very important to me. I know God opened the door for my lap band. Two years ago I started praying, and thought God said no, but I learned this year He just said wait. I was not ready 2 years ago. When I felt God said no, I started dieting and had lost many, many pounds before my surgery--I'm self-pay, or I should say God paid for it--I had to learn first the discipline that is needed to diet, and then accept this is a tool, not a cure, and 2 years ago, I would not have understood either one. God's timing is always right on time isn't it. Thanks for a Christian support group--I wish we had a Christian chat as well...I struggle just to type in my "two cents", so maybe God will put it on someone's heart to get one going, cause that is not one of my talents!

Because He Lives,

Wanda

Patty,

Did you read her (Khalia) book? Is it good. Is it informative? Do you think it is worth buying?

Thanks, Weazer

Wow, i can't believe i just now found this thread. I think it is so great that we can all come together and share our experience with fellow christians and praise God for this blessing. I was banded 9-20-07 and i get my 1st fill on Nov. 1st. I've been overweight all of my adult life and it had just gotten to the point where i felt like i would die if i didn't get my weight under control. I looked into getting the band about 2 years ago and found out that insurance didn't cover the band but they would cover gastric bypass. I decided i didn't want to take a risk with the bypass and prayed that the Lord would make a way to help me. About 6 months ago i saw a lapband commercial on tv and decided i would check again to see if it was covered.... and it was. This has been such a blessing and i thank God for my band. Sorry to be so longwinded.... thanks for listening. God bless!

Hello!

I just wanted to come by and say hello! I am also a Christian!

I would love to have support from other believers.

I know that the Lord is the one who has helped me lose this weight. People are always asking for our secrets, diet, exercise, etc.

My 1st and most important secret weapon is God helping me to lose weight. 2nd, He has helped me lose weight by a supplement He led me to called QuickSlim30. I did so well on it that God led me to start selling it to. My pastors were the first ones to buy it from me and people from church and they are all having awesome results.

God is so good!!!

Please pray for me. I have been suffering from terrible upper resp infection for several weeks and also Poison Ivy! That was the worst. I am now on steroids to knock both out before the surgery.

I just pray for a smooth surgery and also few post-op problems. I do NOT handle anesthesia well at all.

Patty...wanted to say I really sympathize with you and the fires. I am a KAtrina survivor and I know these days are hard! You are all in our prayers. Also, I am a single mom to twins who are 15, and a 12 yo.

Thanks to all of you for your support. Love to you!!!!

Patty,

It's Sunday, are you back yet? I can't wait to hear all about your weekend. I went to a support group meeting at my surgeon's office on Tuesday night, and that was one of the books he mentioned. He has several copies on his tables. I was actually considering ordering one.

Get any good pictures? Can't wait to hear from you.

Cindy

Hi Georgia girl,

I went through a similar situation. I was thinking of the band but found out that my coverage would only cover gastric bypass. Lots of people where I work got the gastric bypass but I felt that was too drastic for me. Then, lo and behold, my coverage is now covering it so I am very happy about that. I don't have the band yet and am supposed to be getting gall bladder surgery in about 3 weeks then 4 weeks later...the band. God bless you all in whatever stage you are in on your Lapband journey!!

Regards.

Alfie

I had a hard time deciding to be band but I had surgery on Monday and the next Sunday I was in Church and praising our savior with more engery than I had in years. I can worship my Lord with all my heart soul and body, and I stop holding on to the seat in front of me to balance.

Thank you Jesus

Hello Everyone,

I am getting banded next Wednesday. I have been reading everyone's posts for a long time now and I have done 2 years of research on this thing. I need to loose 100 to 120 pounds and I am trusting that this is the best way to do it and keep it off. The closer I get the more anxious I am. I feel pretty sick over it now so I can't imagine what next week will be like. I am sure this is normal and I will be just fine once it is done. I would love to have lost 80 pounds by next July...beach vacation. I will be asking a lot of questions...I am apologizing up front.

Thanks!

Todd

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
