Any August 2017 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I'm located in Texas. I haven't been scheduled yet, but my surgeon discussed with me I would be on the pre-opt diet for three days.

Congrats! I have Cigna as well. How long did it take for them to approve it?

Not long at all. They faxed everything in to Cigna on 6/14 and I got the call this morning that it was approved.

I'm scheduled for August 21st. They have to schedule my pre-op appointment with the nutritionist and then I meet with my surgeon sometime in early August. What state is everyone located in? I'm in North Carolina.

I am hoping to have mine in August. All I need is my psych eval and from what I have read here tricare only takes a couple of days to approve it! Super excited ready to drop this wait and pick up a new attitude!

I am in Florida and I am currently jumping thru all the hoops to get all my clearances done for surgery. I have a tentative surgery date of august 21st. I havent gotten any insurance approval yet. All of these appointments are frustrating.

I'm in Florida also. I have been approved by my insurance with an anticipated date of June 29th, which I know is not going to happen. My surgeon has me jumping through all kind of hoops. I had to see pulmonalogist because I use to smoke and I snore. They running all kind of test. Just had to get an chest x-ray done, got a call this morning that I have enlarged thyroids and he will not be clearing me for surgery until I get that under control.

I've jumped through all of my hoops over the last six months. I meet with the surgeon on July 5. I am hoping for an august date.

Im a little nervous because the upper GI shows that I have some reflux, so I'm hoping I can still get the sleeve. With my current life situation, I can't do the bypass because of the long recovery time. Maybe in a few years. I'm really hoping to get approved for the sleeve.

Ive made all of the changes- added exercise, cut back on quantity of food, and greatly improved the quality. I'm feeling really good, so even if I don't get approved for surgery, the changes I've made will continue to help me improve my life.

I hear you, my list was long as well. Has taken me months to get through it. But I've heard from people in my local support group who disnt have to jump through hoops and meet nutritionists, etc...and they are the people struggling the most. As they say, trust the process :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
