Weird looking port

Recommended Posts

Melissa: Yes they did have to open me up but they went in the same incision from my original port placement. It was an outpatient surgery and I went home the same day. I recuperated and was back to normal within two days. Not nearly as much pain as the first surgery to place the band so this repositioning of the band is not nearly as bad. At least it wasn't for me.

I agree with Michelle, you should have a doc touch the site and fell around. Just pics alone can't help them make a diagnosis. I could feel the tubing myself when I pushed on the area. GO TO YOUR DOC!!

I just want to mention how great and supportive you all are; it's peace of mind for someone like me, who has preops tomorrow. As much as I am in tune with worry and fear, it's so nice to know there are folks like you all just a click away...

Hey everyone, thanks for all your help and concern with my port issue. I just got back from Tj. By the time I had arrived there on Sat, the tubing from my port was actually sticking out of my stomach. I almost fainted when we took of the bandage I had put on. YUCK! Anyway, fixed me all up. Seems the tubing was too long and somehow with the seroma I had worked its way to the surface. Dr cut 5cm of tube off and I don't think it will happen again. Wow.. what a weekend. I had to go alone and was sort of nervous. Everything went fine and I even got my first fill. Thanks again

Wow, Melissa, hopefully that does the trick! Glad you're fixed and safely back home. I'm sure this is a typo, but is your current weight now 115?

YIKES!! You poor thing! I've heard of this a couple of times. Scary! So glad you got there in time to have it fixed right away!

Melissa..

I'm so glad you went to TJ to have your port looked at and got it all fixed up. Looks like you are on the mend now :)

Melissa: I am so glad you got it fixed. Did they give you bunches of antibiotics? I am surprised they did not take the port out and let the area heal since it was compromised by the tubing poking through. But hopefully they gave you some good antibiotics.

Keep us posted on how you are healing.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
