Confession at 16 weeks

Recommended Posts

I cheated hard core this weekend. I have lost 50 lbs In the past 16 weeks & it's been a journey of ups & downs & it will be for the rest of my life. So this is not a cry for help or advice just a confession.

I inhaled ever carb in sight this weekend. Today I ingested A total of 1300 calories, 150gms of carbs & only 40 Gms of Protein. I didn't usual 10000 steps. I am back on the wagon tomorrow but what a fall.

What made you do that? That scares me! You woke up the carb beast. Glad you're getting right back on the wagon.

Aw...mess ups happen. Great job getting back on track quickly. Be aware of carb cravings over the next couple days til that crap is back out of your system.

I've done that, too. In fact, this weekend has been like that for me. Every time I focus on building the "getting back on my horse" skill/ habit. We can all get back on track when we stop judging the slips and move on. My NUT said slips WILL happen; it's all about the response to them. [emoji173]️

I'm scared because I'm craving at a week out. I have no intention of acting on the feeling but it's disconcerting. I struggle with what head hunger is and what it feels like. I can't tell. When you ate the carbs did you feel restriction? 1300 calories doesn't sound too hog wild. Not when we could eat 2000 in one sitting.
One thing I'm impressed with is you logged your food. No head burying.

I absolutely felt the restriction...I ate about 8 times instead of my usual 3 & that's what racks up calories. I didn't plan ahead of time so I was hungry & the memorial day Beach picnic spread was available ...I chose carbs.
I did complete my 10000 steps though which included a 3 mile walk on the beach.

Absolutely had to make a conscious decision to log everything in so I could see the pattern learn from it and try not to repeat it my fitness pal has surely been a great tool to help me learn my patterns. I didn't want to log in yesterday but I did it and I learned it was the frequency of eating.

Great! That's really being accountable. Doesn't sound as if you went off the rails. I bet it feels good to be back in control today. Many of my poor choices in the past were me not planning and preparing. Thanks for sharing this. I'll remember it down the road.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
