Looking for a Mentor/Buddy on Long Island

Recommended Posts

Hi. I did a band to sleeve conversion in two parts. The sleeve surgery was on January 31 of this year. At first it seemed like this was going to be the answer for me, but now it seems that I hit plateaus hard every couple of weeks. I want to scream all the time! Its like my body and mind are fighting me all the time. I feel like I know everything I'm doing wrong, but I can't seem to control myself. I'm eating all the right stuff, but just too much of it. I'm not gaining weight (thank goodness) I'm just not losing enough. I have another 80 lbs to go (84) and I'll never get there at this rate. I am just hoping to find a buddy who can talk me off the ledge sometimes, and can just help me laugh at the silly parts of all of this so maybe I can stop focusing on the whole thing so much that I am always focused on food. Thank you!

I can totally understand the frustration of plateaus, however you must not give on yourself. Thinking about food a lot? yeap that's also me, I try to think other things like a project I am doing or going to the gym, or just getting out with my dogs. It's hard but worth the fight, we have but one life, why not be happy and healthy in it? I hope this helps and reach out any time.

Hey, I'm on LI. I had surgery April 12th. I'm about 40 lbs down. I have 40-50 lbs to go. This past week I didn't go down at all. I heard that if you get to a plateau, go back to stage 2 foods and shakes. Have you tried that? That's my plan this week to break it up. I'm hoping it will jump start weight loss again. I am at 204 and want so bad to get under the 200 mark. It's been awhile since I've been under. Usually when I get the the 200 mark, I can't get power just with diet so I am anxious for the scale to be in the 190s and lower! I think about food all the time as well and need to add more exercise. I'll let you know how going back goes.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
