surgery scheduled June 28

Recommended Posts

Hello - I had surgery on 6/27/2017. However, I ran into some complications. Damage to vocal cords - still can't talk, see an ENT July 19. Taking antibiotics for ear infection that just came out of the blue. Then when they took took my drainage tube out on July 3rd, the next day my abdominal wounds started getting red. I am now on antibiotics for wound infection. Definitely not what I planned when getting this surgery, but still think in the long run it will be worth it.
Weight:
5/1/17 on first appointment: 330
6/1/17 - 321
6/27/17 - Date of surgery - 314
7/6/7 - 308

Oh no! One thing after another. I hope and pray that you your healing process goes smoother and that your dr visits are good news.

I had mine 6/29! Would love to be a part of a support group on here!

Well we could make this thread our mini support group. I'm not sure how we'd start an official group here. But I'd be more than happy to share my story - issues and success for others and to encourage others.

I also started a closed Facebook Group about my journey. If you'd like to be a part of it my Facebook name is Cassaundra Issabelle.

Things are going very well. I am getting all my liquids in and Vitamins. I'm also hitting the Protein requirements via Protein Drinks. I use whey isolate from integrated supplements comes in vanilla and chocolate. I use fairlife fat free milk which adds another 13 grams of protein so that's a plus. I've been drinking a lot of crystal light. Looking forward to purée Foods. Tonight I had a piece of chicken kale sausage I chewed it really well and it went down fine. I think that if you just chew your food and stick to very little portion like 1-2 ounces it's fine you shouldn't have any issues when you get to the eating stage. I also have had applesauce no added sugar and that went down well. Let's see oh I bought these little packets of guacamole from dole they come in a 2 ounce portion cup that was great. With a V8 low sodium. I try to drink a V8 everyday for the potassium. I had low potassium for some reason so I have that and I add half a banana to my Protein Shakes.

I started puréed foods on Thursday. It's been wonderful to not feel like I'm starving! [emoji23][emoji23]

I'm looking forward to the pureed foods. I have enjoyed the roasted red pepper and Tomato Soup with a little bit of Protein Powder thrown in for for a little extra. Chewing sounds like it would be an amazing thing!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
