How long does it take for us to heal both inside and out?

Anything up-to 6 months for internal swelling, staple line and muscle repairs to heal.

Outside its more just bruises, surgical scars and any staples needing to come out.

I'm just shy of three weeks post op and am still bruised to hell and back from Clexane injections and my scars have pretty much totally healed. Internal I'm still a bit swollen but no issues eating or drinking.

As long as you listen to your body no matter who tells you what then you'll be fine.

Forever!!

But seriously, everyone is different. I'm 2 weeks post op and my incision where all the action happened is still not all the way closed, and finding a good sleep position is still challenging. The incisions themselves don't hurt, but all the pain from the internal manipulation. Getting back to work, though I'm exhausted, has helped take my mind off the hurt though!

Mentally, I feel like this is always going to be a challenge, at least for me.

I'm 3 weeks and 1 day post-op and I still have scabs on all of my incisions. I'm anxious for them to fall off and see what it feels like underneath. I'm sore, but much better than I was the first 2 weeks. I've very close to feeling back to normal. I started on soft foods yesterday to and have been handling everything really well so far.

I had my surgery on the 20th of April, from the out side most of my incisions looks fine except for the one I had the drain tube coming from, it is a bit less healed than the others, but from the inside, I feel like I went to the gym for the first day after a loooong time, the pace where they took out that part of my stomach from is the worst, even when I'm sleeping I can still feel the soreness when I move, but it is not that bad, I'm going to work and having an almost normal day .

hope yours gets better soon ..

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
