Day 8 Optifast

Hi Everyone. I'm on day 8 of 21 of my Optifast pre surgery diet. My surgery is May 15 at Toronto Western Hospital. I haven't cheated at all. I have 4 packages of Optifast 900 per day, lots of water (over 2 litres), only 1 serving of fat free jello and 1 cup of low sodium beef broth. I have NAFLD and was told by my surgeon that I really need to shrink my liver before surgery or they might not be able to RNY and will do gastric sleeve instead. I'm worried I'm not in ketosis. My breath isn't bad, I'm still very hungry and the ketostix I bought only show a trace of ketosis. I've definitely lost weight. My clothes are much looser. Not sure how much weight. I don't have a scale that measures that high. I am a male, 53, and 455 lbs. If anyone has any comments could you please let me know? Maybe my worries are unfounded.

If you stick to the diet, I'm sure you'll do fine. It sounds like you're doing everything right. I start mine May 15, my biggest fear is being hungry. It's funny really but many times at work I'd eat more during lunch worried that I might be hungry later, I guess thinking it would store in there for later lol.

Don't worry your doing great, I lost 9kg on liver diet and didn't get into ketosis but liver looked great. I had NAFLD too - itd gone now near 3 weeks post surgery
